We all have off days. Sometimes you wake up, and you’re just not feeling yourself. Whether it’s an ugly pimple or lack of sleep – little things can cause our confidence to fluctuate. But, what if there was something you could do to boost your confidence on those days? There is! In fact, there are several things that will do the trick.

Here are six simple ways to immediately give your confidence a boost:

1.  Get a little more dressed up than normal.

How you dress affects how you feel. Wear old jeans and a baggy t-shirt, and you’ll likely feel a little lethargic. But, you’ll walk a little taller when you put on your favorite blouse and best pair of jeans.

Get a little more dressed up than normal when your confidence needs a boost. That could mean wearing heels, a dress or even extra accessories. Just wear an outfit that makes you feel gorgeous and fierce. Your confidence will follow suit.

2.  Do the primping.

Taking a little extra time to primp will make you feel polished. Simple things like wearing lipstick or fixing your hair your favorite way makes you feel and look put together. When you feel put together, you hold yourself differently. Because you feel confident.

The next time you’re feeling down and want to roll out of bed and go, don’t. Make a point to do some primping, and your confidence will thank you.

3.  Have positive thoughts.

Your thoughts affect your attitude. Have negative thoughts, and you’ll be in a fowl mood. Have positive thoughts, and you’ll feel much more cheerful.

Give yourself a pep talk, take note of your positive attributes and have only positive thoughts. Your confidence level is mind over matter.

4.  Say “hello” to people.

Saying “hello” to people is so much more than a greeting. It’s you seeing people. It’s you being seen. It’s you boosting others’ moods, and in turn, boosting your own. Say “good morning” to people – whether you’re dropping the kids off at school or grabbing a coffee. Talking to people inevitably puts a smile on your face. The more you smile, the happier and more confident you feel.

5.  Make healthy food choices.

The food choices you make also affect your mood and overall confidence. Consider how you feel after eating a cheeseburger and fries. Your belly likely feels bloated and overly full, so you feel a little sluggish. This type of feeling doesn’t make you walk into a room with your head held high. Now, consider how you feel after eating something lighter – like a chicken salad or a wrap. You’re comfortably full, and the feeling in your gut doesn’t weigh you down. (Pun not intended.)

It’s normal to want to reach for foods that are unhealthy when your confidence is lacking. But, those foods will plummet it even more. Make healthier choices – especially on those days – and feel your confidence increase.

6.  Do something you love.

It’s important to do something you love if you’re not feeling great about yourself. The alternative is to sit around feeling sorry for yourself, and that doesn’t do any good. So, make a point to spend a small amount of time doing something you enjoy. It could be going for a walk, sitting in a coffee shop or taking a bath. Partaking in a favorite activity makes you feel like yourself, which puts some pep in your step.

It’s totally normal to not feel yourself 100 percent every day. But don’t let that mindset dampen your day. Take control by doing small things to boost your confidence. Your entire day will be brightened, and you’ll feel empowered.

It can be tempting to skip getting a bra fitting. You’re short on time, and you simply want to get in and get out of the lingerie store. So, you make a b-line to the bra section, and grab the same bra size you have at home. It “fits” like your others, so you’re off to the checkout counter. Mission accomplished – or is it?

You may think this way of buying bras saves you time. However, going this route has its downfalls – including possibly wasting your time. Thinking about skipping your bra fitting during your next bra shopping trip? Here are six reasons why you should never ever skip a bra fitting:

1.  You could waste time.

Skipping a bra fitting may save you time during the shopping trip, but it can waste time in the long-run. You could spend more time than necessary trying on various bra sizes and styles to find a bra that seems to fit. And, you’ll have to make another trip to the store to exchange it if you buy the wrong size or fit.

2.  You won’t know if your bra size has changed.

Forfeiting your bra fitting means you won’t know if your bra size has changed. And, it’s very possible your bra size has changed since your last bra fitting. Of course, it’s also possible you’re wearing the wrong bra size without realizing it if you’ve never had a fitting. A bra fitting is essential to ensure you know your exact bra size.

3.  You risk buying the wrong bra size.

Not knowing your bra size increases your chances of buying the wrong bra size. The only way to truly know the best bra size for you is by getting a bra fitting. Forego the fitting, and you may find yourself in a bra that doesn’t make you feel confident or supported.

4.  You won’t know your sister bra size.

Your bra sister size comes in handy when the lingerie store is out of your bra size. The sister bra size is typically your bra size, plus and/or minus your band and/or cup size. For example, let’s say you wear a 34C. Your sister sizes would be a 32D and a 36B. This is because the slightly different cup or band sizes helps to accommodate the same amount of breast tissue. But, skipping a bra fitting means you won’t know your true bra size. In turn, won’t know your true sister sizes either.

5.  You may be disappointed when you get home.

The trial and error method of trying on bras can be tedious and frustrating. You try on numerous bras, and finally feel like one of them fits. Yet, the bra just doesn’t feel right when you get it home. This could be because you tried on so many ill-fitting bras that a less ill-fitting bra felt right. Opting for a bra fitting ensures you’ll buy the right size and won’t be disappointed when you get home.

6.  You could waste money.

Buying the wrong bra size can waste your money. There’s no option to return the bra if you’ve already torn the tags off or washed it. And, you won’t be reimbursed for the shipping charges if you ordered online and need to do a return. Don’t skip out on your bra fitting if you don’t want to chance losing money.

Saving time may be a perk of skipping your bra fitting, but skipping it comes with even more downfalls. Schedule your bra fitting in advance if you’re crunched for time. Or, simply choose another day to bra shop when you won’t be rushed. Opting for the bra fitting and taking your time will save you time, money and frustration down the road.

Are you someone who despises trying on clothes while shopping –  including bras? Let me guess: You’d rather grab your size in the items you love and try everything on when you get home. Right? This technique may work for clothes, but it’s a little trickier for bras.

No two blouses have the same fit, even if they are the same size. And the same goes for bras. You can’t assume you’ll wear the same size in one brand as you would in another. Trying on bras may seem tedious, however, the process will save you frustration.

Here are four reasons why you’ll want to think twice before buying a bra without trying it on:

1.  You could waste time by needing to return it.

You likely want to skip trying on the bra to save time. But, not trying on a bra in store could actually cost you more time. You may need to return the bra if you don’t like it once you try it on at home. Not only must you go through the returns process, but you’ll have to bra shop again. Spend the extra time trying on bras, and you’ll thank yourself later.

2.  Bra brands and styles vary in fit.

No two bras – even when they are same size – are equal in fit. This is because bra sizing can vary by brand, material and style. A European bra brand will have a different sizing structure than an American brand. And, a spandex bra may fit differently in the same size as a lace bra. It’s important to try on bras instead of trusting that it will fit simply because it’s “your size.”

3.  You may love the bra, but not how it looks on you.

How you feel in a bra matters. You may love the way the bra looks on the hanger. Yet, you don’t love how it looks on you. And, that’s perfectly fine! It’s important to only buy bras that make you look and feel your best. One half of your bra’s job is to boost your confidence. The other half of its job is to provide support. If a bra isn’t doing both jobs well, it’s not the right bra for you. Of course, the only way to know if the bra suits you is to try it on. And, it’s better to find out you don’t like a bra in-store than after you buy it and get it home.

4.  Your bra size may have changed.

The size of the last bra you bought may not be the size you need now. There are many factors that can cause your bra size to change, like weight gain or loss, pregnancy, breastfeeding or menopause. It’s a good rule of thumb to get a bra fitting before starting to bra shop. This ensures you know your current bra size and can focus on only trying on the right bras.

Remember:

Trying on a bra before buying it helps ensure you leave the store satisfied. Of course, bra shopping online forces you to purchase before trying on. For this reason, it’s still a good idea to get a bra fitting if you plan to buy online. (Many stores offer bra fittings at no cost and no obligation.) This way, you aren’t guessing your bra size online. As we mentioned before, bra sizes can vary among brands. So, be sure to check the online store’s sizing chart and return policy. You’ll want to make sure the bra’s measurements align with your own and that you have the option to return the bra if it doesn’t fit.

Finding the right sports bra is a strategic effort, just like it is when finding the right every day bra. Wearing the right sports bra for you and your exercise regimen is key to getting the most out of your workout. It’s possible you may be wearing the wrong sports bra. If so, it’s also possible that your sports bra is hindering your workout.

Wondering if you’re not wearing the best sports bra for you? Here are seven signs you’re wearing the wrong one:

1.  Your sports bra feels loose.

A sports bra is meant to fit snug, so it can support your bust. It should fit tighter than your regular bra because you want it to keep your boobs in place during exercise. An oh-so-slightly loose sports bra can’t support your boobs properly. You may be wearing the wrong size if your sports bra isn’t snug fitting.

2.  Your boobs bounce a lot during exercise.

You wear a sports bra to minimize bouncing and avoid your boobs getting in the way during exercise. So, you’re likely in the wrong sports bra if your boobs bounce a lot during your workout. Even women with big busts can minimize bouncing with the right sports bra.

3.  The straps dig into your shoulders.

Digging bra straps are a sign that you’re wearing the wrong bra – whether it’s a sports bra or a regular bra. It’s likely you need a different size or a more supportive style if the straps dig into your shoulders. A wide underband and wide bra straps can help provide a comfortable, supportive fit in sports bras.

4.  You’re wearing a compression sports bra for intense exercise.

Compression sports bras aren’t intended for medium- and high-impact activities, like running or aerobics. Compression bras simply push your boobs towards your body, which doesn’t provide much support. These bras are best for low-impact sports, like yoga or pilates. When doing strenuous activities, you’ll at least want a medium-impact sports bra with supportive features, like encapsulated cups and adjustable padded straps.

5.  The built-in cups rest on your boobs.

Supportive sports bras are designed to reduce bounce and hold your boobs in place while you’re working out. To provide proper support, the cups must fit snugly around your bust. It’s a sign that your sports bra is too small if the cups rest on your boobs instead of around them.

6.  Your breast tissue is spilling over the sides of the sports bra.

Side boob can be a sign of a fit problem. Breast tissue that falls out of your sports bra can be uncomfortable and frustrating while exercising. Side boob or side spillage may signify that you need a larger bra size or a different style sports bra.

7.  You didn’t see a bra fitter when purchasing your sports bras.

Think you can get away with skipping a bra fitting since you’re “just” buying a sports bra? Nope! Bra fittings are just as important when buying sports bras as they are when buying regular bras. The bra fitter takes your measurements to decide the best sports bra size for you. And no, it’s not always black and white – there’s a bit of science to it. So, if you feel like your sports bra fit is slightly off, it could be because you skipped the bra fitting.

It’s a good idea to visit a bra fitter if any of these symptoms apply to you and your sports bra. Getting in the right sports bra will make a huge difference in your workout. Exercise in your new sports bra once, and you’ll never know how you survived a workout in the wrong fit.

I’ve been around women with big busts long enough to know they don’t always love the volume. I’ve heard my mom and girlfriends say they wish they had smaller boobs. But as a small-busted gal, I can tell you that having smaller boobs isn’t always ideal either.

Here are four reasons to embrace having big boobs:

1.  Realize all the perks of having big boobs.

You’re probably thinking about the positive aspects of having small boobs when you’re wishing you had them. Smaller breasts may mean less discomfort or pain. They bounce less when you’re working out, and it’s easier to sleep on your stomach. Women with smaller busts probably don’t have to deal with popping out of their blouses. These are all true statements. But have you considered all the perks of having big boobs?

Your boobs help you naturally fill out your swimsuit. You can easily have cleavage when you want it. Your boobs accentuate your silhouette and figure. The perks of having big boobs are plentiful. Don’t let the perceived idea of small boobs outweigh the perks of your bigger ones.

2.  You don’t have to use bras to increase your bustline.

Women with bigger busts don’t need to wear bras to increase their bustline. This is something that women with smaller busts envy. (Me included!) You don’t need a push-up bra to have cleavage. Instead, you can wear a bra that’s a little less manipulative while still having beautiful cleavage. And that bigger bustline doesn’t disappear when you remove your bra.

3.  Remember your boobs are perfect as they are.

It’s easier to see that your boobs are perfect as they are when you stop wishing they were different. Everything about your boobs makes them pretty and unique – their size, their shape, your nipples. The perfect bust doesn’t exist. And beautiful boobs aren’t necessarily small boobs, nor big boobs. Embrace what you have, and don’t feel like you’re missing out.

4.  The grass is not always greener on the other side.

I think women will always assume having bigger or smaller breasts is better. But, the grass is never greener on the other side. Wherever there are two sides (pun not intended), there are always positives and negatives. Know that having smaller boobs doesn’t come with infinite advantages. And that it does come with downsides.

Realizing your boobs are awesome as they are is a great way to boost your self-confidence. And not critiquing your boobs or body will boost your self-love as well. Love your big boobs, and don’t wish them away. Your boobs will undoubtedly change, so embrace how they are in the moment.

Every woman has a strapless bra in her lingerie collection. It’s essential because so many tops and dresses require bare shoulders or backs. But, what about a longline bustier? If you thought longline bustiers were only worn under poufy, Victorian-style dresses, you’re wrong.

Longline bustiers have a place in your modern wardrobe for a variety of reasons. Let’s first talk about what the longline bustier is.

What is a longline bustier?

A longline bustier is similar to a strapless bra, but its material extends to cover your torso and stomach. (Hence, giving it its “longline” name.) Clasps go all the way up the backside of the bustier for a snug, adjustable fit. Women have been wearing longline bras for decades to slim and shape. You may even think of a longline bra when you think of retro bra styles.

What does a longline bustier do?

Longline bustiers are multi-purposeful. The fitted, extended material helps to shape the waistline. In turn, longline bustiers smooth your mid-section. The material smooths your sides, back and belly for a sculpted silhouette.

A longline bustier also provides extra support and lift because of its longline style. The extended material helps the bra cups stay in place – offering effortless, all-ay support. This aspect makes longline bras super helpful for women with bigger busts. You’ll have peace of mind knowing that your bra will give you the support you need while also giving a natural, feminine lift. Your longline bustier also adds versatility to your wardrobe since its strapless.

Take Parfait’s Elissa Low-Back Bustier Collection, for example It’s feminine – with dainty, lace detailing, yet functional. It has a low back, underwire for added support and molded cups for a beautiful, natural lift.

How do you wear longline bustiers?

There’s no right or wrong way to wear a longline bustier since it’s so versatile. One way to wear a longline bustier is as an alternative to your strapless bra. It works perfectly under strapless tops and dresses. Choosing a longline bustier with a low back, like the Elissa Low-Back Bustier, gives you all the benefits of a longline style while wearing low-back garments.

But, longline bustiers aren’t strictly for wearing under strapless items. They’re a go-to whenever you want effortless support and lift and a smooth silhouette. (Remember, years ago, women wore these under big dresses – long-sleeved or cap-sleeved – to accentuate a small waist.) So, you could wear one under a fitted, long-sleeve dress or even an evening gown.

Final tips:

Though the longline bustier is functional, it’s also flirty. Many offer feminine detailing, and the bustier makes a statement all on its own. So, there’s no need to think you can’t show off this little number. A longline bustier could be worn under your date night outfit or by itself for a romantic night at home.

A longline bustier is a must-have in every woman’s lingerie drawer. Whether you’re dressing up for a special occasion or want an effortless look that stays in place – the longline bustier is a good fit. And with its vintage-inspired look, the longline bustier is a sexy piece of lingerie that you’ll want to show off.

Finding a supportive sports bra is a priority for many women. The right sports bra can boost your comfort level while exercising – whether you have a big bust or do a lot of strenuous activities. But how do you find the best, supportive sports bra for your needs? Read on, girlfriend!

Keep your activity level in mind.

Support is essential in all fitness activities. However, your activity level will determine what type of sports bra you need. For example, you could wear a lightweight sports bra doing yoga or weight training than you could if you were doing zumba. This is because your body is not in motion while doing yoga or weight training. Keep your activity level in mind so a bra fitter can help you determine if a low-impact, medium-impact or high-impact sports bra is best.

Get a bra fitting.

Don’t think you can just wing it when it comes to finding a supportive sports bra. A bra fitting is just as important for finding the right size sports bra as it is for finding the right every day bra. Your bra fitter will be able to pair you with the perfect sports bra for your activity and support needs.

Look for these design elements.

A supportive sports bra is not your typical compression sports bra. You’ll need to pay attention to certain design elements when looking for a supportive sports bra. The Active Sports Bra by Parfait, for example, is perfect for medium-impact sports. It’s designed with comfort and maximum support in mind.

Here are key features to look for in a supportive sports bra:

1.  Encapsulated cups

Encapsulated cups help provide additional support by simply separating your breasts. Consider how a compression sports bra pushes your breasts against you. The only thing keeping them in place is the tight fit of the sports bra. However, an encapsulation sports bra offers extra support because the cups act as a mold around your breasts. This keeps bouncing to a minimum.

2.  Underwire

Underwire offers extra support in any type of bra – including sports bras. The underwire lifts your bustline. Your boobs are lifted and contained, so it’s much easier for them to remain in place.

3.  A wide underband

A wide underband is another element to look for in a support sports bra. The wide underband helps the other design elements do their jobs. The underband helps the bra stay in place, which in turn helps the underwire or cups stay put, too. The band also acts as support to the underwire, giving you that supportive lift you need.

4.  A snug fit

A common question is if sports bras should fit tight. A sports bra should fit tighter than your day-to-day bra because this helps it provide support, but it shouldn’t feel so tight that it becomes uncomfortable or restricts movement. A sports bra that is even slightly too big cannot provide appropriate support. A snug-fitting sports bra allows you to get the most out of your workout without being hindered by your chest.

A good rule of thumb for determining if a sports bra is too tight or just right: If you can fit two fingers between your skin and the band, it’s a perfect fit.

5.  Moisture-wicking material

Okay – moisture-wicking material doesn’t do anything for support. But, it is tremendously helpful at absorbing sweat. And, you’ll likely be doing medium-impact activities if you’re looking for an ultra-supportive sports bra. So, you’ll want the moisture-wicking material to help you stay dry and comfortable during your workout.

The right sports bra is key to enjoying and getting the most out of your workout. There are certain elements of a sports bra that boost support. But, knowing these elements isn’t enough. You’ll need to keep your activity level in mind and get a bra fitting to ensure the bra provide maximum support.

It goes without saying that we are eternally grateful for the strapless bra. Whether we’re sporting a top or a dress sans straps (or with complex ones), this handy little undergarment gives us the support we need without showing. Still, the strapless bra comes with a slew of challenges. And when it doesn’t fit well, it can cause a whole lot of inconveniences.

The truth is, a strapless bra should make your life easier, not create more challenges to your personal style and comfort. Here are some of the most common fit issues when it comes to these bras, and furthermore, how to fix them.

The bra band won’t stay up

Nothing is more annoying than having to periodically pull up the band on your strapless bra. If this keeps happening to you, it’s safe to say that the band is too loose. When it comes to strapless bras, you may very well need to go down in the band size. This will help to make up for the lack of support you’d normally get from the straps. Of course, the band shouldn’t be uncomfortable whatsoever, but it should definitely fit as snug as possible against your torso. A good way to assess whether it’s tight enough (without being too tight) is to make sure you can slip two fingers under the band (but no more than that).

Another feature worth considering is silicone. Some strapless bras contain anti-slip silicone tape, which can gently grip the skin and thus help the bra stay in place.

You’re not getting enough lift

There’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to get adequate support from a strapless bra. First of all, it’s worth noting that full-busted women should seek out strapless bras made by brands that specialize in underthings for larger cup sizes, as the construction will likely be sturdier all around.

Still, if it feels or looks like your breasts aren’t being lifted, consider a strapless style with a wide band, which will provide more support than a narrower one. Another tactic to try is opting for a strapless longline bra or strapless bustier. The extra material that extends down your torso will help to provide additional support for your breasts. Want even more lift? Then go for a push-up strapless bra to amp up the cleavage.

Your breast tissue is spilling out of the cups

Your breasts should always feel securely contained by your bra, and that goes for strapless styles as well. So if you’re seeing breast tissue bulging out of the top or sides of the cups, then you may need to go up in cup size. Keep in mind that going up in cup size will also require going down in band size (this is known as your “sister size”). Large busted ladies may want to look for a full cup strapless bra to ensure there’s adequate coverage. If your breasts are spilling out of the bottom of the strapless bra, then either the band is too large or the cups are too small (or both).

The underwire pokes you

Let’s clear one thing right up: Your underwire should not be uncomfortable. And it definitely should not be digging into your skin whatsoever. If the underwire is poking into your underarms, then the cups are likely too large (as the wire is obviously too long). On the other hand, if the underwire is poking into the actual breast tissue, then the cups are likely too small. Of course, you could opt to forgo underwire altogether — there are plenty of wire-free strapless options out there. However, if you’re full busted, you will clearly benefit from the additional support that underwire can provide (especially without straps to help out in that regard).

Hopefully, this advice will help you find your ideal strapless bra as well as avoid any potential fit problems. One final tip: once you do hunt down the perfect strapless bra, you may want to buy it in a couple colors so you’re covered for any occasion or ensemble — believe us, you’ll be glad you did given the challenges to find the right one for you.
