You’ve heard that you shouldn’t toss your bras in the dryer. Is this fact or fiction? Fact! Drying your bras in the dryer is one of the greatest mistakes women make when laundering intimates. The best drying method for your bras is air-drying them. Using a dryer to dry your bras can be extremely harmful to your bras.

Here’s why you should think twice before tossing your bras into the dryer.

The heat damages the bra’s elastic.

The heat from a dryer can be very damaging to the elasticity of a bra. As the elastic heats up, it stretches. Using a dryer to dry bras can also be harmful to the underwire. When the underwire is exposed to extreme heat, it has more opportunity to pop or break. Never put bras in the dryer so the materials can remain in-tact.

The bra will lose its fit.

The bra loses its fit when the elastic stretches. Your bra stretches a little more every time you toss it in the dryer. This results in your bra no longer fitting you the way you need it to. Your bra doesn’t have to get stretched and replaced so often. Taking time to properly launder your bras helps them to fit you like the day you bought it.

The clasp can get hung on other garments.

Tossing your bra in the dyer can lead to the bra’s clasp getting snagged on other items. This is not only harmful to the other garments, but it can damage the clasp itself, too. (And, a bra without a clasp is useless.) Of course, you could fasten the clasp to avoid it getting damaged. (This is the best way to wash bras, if you must use a washing machine.) However, clasp fastened or not, you should never dry bras in a dryer.

The dryer will shorten your bra’s lifespan.

A bra’s lifespan is instantly shortened when you don’t care for it properly. One of the best ways to extend your bra’s shelf life is to air-dry it. Air-drying will help the to retain the bra’s shape and preserve its delicate fabrics. Take a few minutes to organize your lingerie to further extend its lifespan as well. When it comes to preserving the quality, the way you store your bras is just as important as how you launder them.

Bras can last for several years when you treat them with care. And, making your bras last longer can be super helpful when bras aren’t inexpensive items. Appropriately laundering your bras will help them provide you with utmost support, while keeping their like-new qualities longer.

The thought of having a boudoir photoshoot can be exhilarating and intimidating. I had a boudoir shoot prior to my wedding, and I’ll admit, I was a little hesitant beforehand. But, I was excited, too. I absolutely loved my photos, and I’m so happy I decided to have a boudoir shoot.

Are you on the fence about having a boudoir shoot before your wedding? Here are five reasons why you should go for it:

1.  It’s an opportunity to embrace your body.

A boudoir photoshoot is an opportunity to embrace your body. We all have insecurities, but we should embrace our bodies just as they are every day. And, it’s very easy to feel yourself when you’re dressed up, feeling like a queen.

2.  Having sensual photos makes you feel fierce.

Having sensual photos from your boudoir photoshoot will make you feel fierce. You look back at the photos, and think, “That’s me. I had the guts to do that!” Seeing yourself in photos where you’re embracing your body and loving yourself is a beautiful thing. And, it’s an empowering feeling. You probably have several photos of yourself, but nothing like a photo from a boudoir shoot.

3.  You capture yourself as a bride-to-be.

A boudoir shoot is an opportunity to capture the bridal version of you. Today, I have lots of highlights in my hair. When I got married, I had very long, dark hair. I shaped my eyebrows differently, and I did my makeup slightly differently. The way I look in my boudoir photos is how I looked on my wedding day. We’re constantly changing and transitioning in life. But, I love that my boudoir photos reflect who I was at the time I was a bride. It’s sweet.

4.  It’s so much fun.

A boudoir shoot lets you be sassy, flirty, sweet, silly – whatever you want to be. You pick out bridal lingerie that you love and makes you feel beautiful. You throw in accessories to match your style. Or, maybe you opt for a photoshoot that’s not typical of your style. Maybe you use a pin-up or old Hollywood glam theme. You get to primp and get dressed up, and it’s such a fun, feminine experience.

5.  You could gift the photos to your new spouse.

Your boudoir photos capture a special moment in time of you as a bride. These photos are endearing to have for yourself, but you can also use them as a gift to your new spouse. You could create a book or have your favorite photo enlarged for your spouse.

I used an online store to create a book with my boudoir photos for my husband. When the book arrived in the mail, I was in awe. Seeing beautiful photos of me in a tangible book was so special. I had someone deliver the book to him the morning of our wedding. To me, I was gifting myself to my husband for life as his partner – that was my true wedding gift. And, the boudoir book was a reflection that.

I’m a big fan of boudoir shoots. A woman can have one at anytime in her life to capture her femininity and sensuality. But, there’s something unique about having a boudoir shoot before your wedding. Being a bride-to-be is a life experience you may not get again. Capturing the way you look and feel at that moment serves as a beautiful reminder of when you’re life was transitioning.

Organizing your lingerie does more than help you quickly find pieces you love. It makes finding your intimates a pleasure each day. It also preserves your lingerie. Strategically positioning your lingerie garments – instead of tossing them in a drawer – keeps them safe and allows each one to maintain its like-new quality.

For example, when storing your bras, the cups should face outward and the clasp should be fastened. If the bra cups aren’t facing outward, they won’t retain their shape. If you toss a bra in your drawer unclasped, the clasp can snag other intimates in your drawer, which could even damage the clasp itself. And, a full and unorganized lingerie drawer lets your garments get stuck between drawers, pulling and snagging the materials.

Lingerie organization is just as important as properly washing your lingerie to preserve your intimates.

Here are three clever ways to organize your lingerie:

1.  Hang your bras on fancy hangers.

how to organize lingerie

Give your lingerie a boutique-feel by hanging bras on fancy hangers. The daintiness of satin padded hangers will make you feel just as fancy when selecting lingerie for the day. And, these hangers come in a variety styles – solid colors and patterns – so it’s easy to find hangers that match your personality.

2.  Line your bras up in a drawer.

how to organize lingerie drawer

You know how you open a drawer in a lingerie store, and the bras are perfectly organized and color coordinated? You can replicate this at home! Lining your bras up in a drawer is a beautiful way to display (and organize) your bras. The bras should be fastened and positioned cup-to-cup. But, this is also a space-saving trick. You can fit lots of bras in one drawer or even make room for panties by organizing your bras this way.

3.  Hang your bras on decorative wall hooks.

best way to organize lingerie

Hanging your bras on decorative wall hooks is another excellent way to organize your lingerie. This may be the most effortless way to organize your bras because there’s no extra effort, like fastening, needed. (That’s because there aren’t other items for the clasps to snag.) You just slip the bra strap over a hook when you undress at the end of the day. And, with so many decorative options available, you can find something to match your personal style.

Lingerie organization isn’t something you should sacrifice. A little time spent organizing can save you time when looking for your go-to items. Plus, it helps preserve your lingerie and makes selecting your intimates a little more fun. After all, part of the fun in shopping in a lingerie store is how beautifully all the garments are displayed. You can give yourself that same experience by taking time to organize your lingerie at home.

Are you on your own holiday shopping list? If you’re not, you should be! The holiday season is the perfect time to gift yourself something special – like beautiful lingerie. Whether you need new, everyday intimates or festive lingerie, you should treat yourself to lingerie this holiday season. Here’s why:

There are good deals on lingerie during the holidays.

Lingerie is often a hot gift item for the holidays. So, there are lots of great deals to be taken advantage of this season. From free items with purchases, to marked down intimates and BOGO deals, these specials are too good to pass up.

You’ll love your selections because you shopped for yourself.

Why ask for lingerie as a gift when you can buy it for yourself? Every year, my husband stuffs my stocking with beautiful, new panties. But, I usually have to exchange at least a few of them. By shopping for your own lingerie this season, you can guarantee you’ll like the items, and they’ll fit. You won’t have to bother with exchange lines or shipping times after the holidays.

You probably need some new lingerie anyways.

Many women don’t buy themselves new lingerie often. It’s just not something that comes to mind. Quality lingerie can last for years when cared for properly, which is exactly why you should invest in beautiful lingerie.

What are you treating yourself to this holiday season?

Sometimes your friends need extra support from you. But, your friend likely won’t tell you when she needs support because she may not realize it herself. You can’t solve her problems, but you can be around to listen or offer words of encouragement. Being present and checking in on her during tough times will make her feel loved and supported.

Keep an eye out for these signs that a friend may need extra support:

1.  Her tone is negative.

If your friend is putting out more negativity than usual, it’s a sign she may need extra support. This negativity could signify several things. She could feel stuck, down or like nothing is going the way it should. She could be experiencing trouble at work or home that’s spilling over into other areas of her life.

It’s a red flag when your upbeat friend starts taking on a negative tone. Be mindful to not feed the negativity, but to offer positive insight instead. And, don’t be shy to ask her if something is bothering her. Sometimes it takes someone bringing our behavior to our attention to realize something is bothering us.

2.  She reaches out less often.

If a friend reaches out to you less than before, she could be experiencing a tough time. We tend to not make time for things that make us happy when life gets heavy. Whether it’s because you have no extra time or because you just don’t feel up to activities, it’s easy to isolate yourself.

I was once in a job that took all of my time, happiness and sanity. My weekly happy hours with girlfriends turned into monthly happy hours, if that. But, spending time with my friends would have helped me feel like myself when I felt like I was spiraling. When you notice a friend is reaching out less often, bridge the gap. Invite her to coffee, to go shopping or get a workout in. She needs that time with you more than she knows.

3.  She mentions stress and anxiety.

If a friend mentions she’s stressed or anxious, she’ll need extra support from you. The bright side to this situation is that she blatantly told you that she’s feeling overwhelmed. So, you don’t have to probe her to get answers. Make it a point to check in on her when you know she’s experiencing stress. Ask for updates, lend a listening ear and ask if there’s a way you can help. It will make her feel better simply knowing you’re aware of her situation and care.

4.  She has recently experienced a life change.

Life changes are a good sign that a friend could use some extra love. Maybe your friend changed jobs, had a death in the family, got divorced or married, relocated to a new city or had a baby. All of these experiences require time to adapt, and each comes with a slew of emotions. If your friend experiences a life change, chat with her often about how she’s feeling. Let her know you’re there to talk, and she’s not alone. Call or text her just to say hi and see how things are going.

A friend may not always tell you when she needs extra support. But, you can put the pieces together by being mindful of her mood, words and situation. It can be difficult finding the right words to say when a friend is going through a hard time. But, staying quiet won’t help her. It’s not about saying the perfect words. It’s about being present and extending love in any way you can. The love and support of a true friend can make even the hardest experience a little more manageable.

Sometimes you wear bras for maximum comfort. And other times, you use your bras to make your bust look bigger. Whether there’s a special occasion or you simply want to give yourself a confidence boost, a bra can help enhance the size of your bustline.

Let’s dive into the bra styles that will make your bust look bigger, so you know what to look for when bra shopping:

Push-up bras may be the most popular enhancement bra. Push-up bras contain additional padding on the sides and bottoms of the bra cups. This extra padding pushes your breasts up an in – creating cleavage. Because of the way the bra pushes your breasts, your breasts appear rounder and fuller – which immediately makes the breasts look bigger. Some push-up bras can enhance your bustline by one or two cup sizes. The amount of padding in the push-up bra will determine how much bigger the bra makes your bust appear.

A demi cup bra is another enhancing bra style. A demi cup bra – also known as a shelf bra, half bra or balconette bra – features cups that cover about half or three quarters of your breasts. This bra style leaves the upper part of your bust exposed, which creates a rounder, fuller appearance. Hence, the demi cup bra can make your breasts look bigger.

Demi cup bras may or may not have padding to further accentuate the bustline. Of course, a demi cup bra with padding will enhance your bustline even more.

A plunge bra has a deep neckline, making it a good fit for low-cut tops or dresses. Because this bra style is meant to be worn with plunge-neck garments, it’s designed to enhance your bust as well. Plunge bras have additional padding, similar to push-up bras. This padding lifts your breasts to create more cleavage, however, it likely won’t provide the same amount of cleavage as a push-up.

Charlotte Padded Bra 6901

bras that make your boobs look bigger

All of the enhancing bra styles we’ve discussed so far have one thing in common – padding. So, a padded bra can also make your bust look bigger as well. Padded bras have an even layer of padding throughout each cup. Depending on the size of your bust, a padded bra may not give you an overly voluptuous bra line. However, padded bras are perfect for when you want a little more volume up top without a lot of extra padding and pushing.

These are the best bra styles to make your bust look bigger. Like with any bra, you should get a bra fitting before bra shopping for a new enhancing bra. Without a bra fitting, you may end up buying the wrong size bra. An enhancing bra that is too big won’t enhance your bustline to the extent you desire. And an enhancing bra that is too small can create “breast bulges” that show under your clothes.

Properly laundering your lingerie can extend the condition of your garments. And, when you splurge on lingerie that you love, you want to maximize the return on your investment. But there are several mistakes women make that jeopardize the lingerie’s quality. These mistakes can wear down the lingerie’s fabric and decrease the elasticity – taking time off your lingerie’s lifespan.

Here are seven mistakes you’re making when laundering your lingerie.

1.  Washing lingerie too often.

Washing lingerie too often can quickly shed months or years off the garment’s shelf life. It’s suggested that you should wear a bra between two and four times before washing it. Washing it more frequently than this will result in the bra losing its shape. If a bra loses its elasticity and shape, it’s not doing its job for you.

2.  Not washing lingerie often enough.

You shouldn’t wash your bra too often, but you also need to make sure you wash it enough. Each time you wear a bra, dead skin cells and body oils make their way onto the bra’s fabric. These things can break down the elastic of a bra over time. (This is why it’s important to have more than one go-to bra in your lingerie drawer.) Even if your bra doesn’t appear to be dirty, stick to the two to four wear rule between washings.

3.  Not hooking bras during a wash.

This may be one of the most common lingerie laundering mistakes. Tossing your bra into the washing machine unhooked lets it get tangled with other items. Plus, the clasps could get snagged on other garments, tearing your garments or damaging the clasp itself. To keep your bras and other items safe, always clasp your bra if you must wash it in the washing machine.

4.  Putting your lingerie in the dryer.

The heat from the dryer can wear down your lingerie’s elasticity. From panties to bras, you’ll want to avoid putting any lingerie in the dryer. It’s best to let all your lingerie air dry.

Related Post: Bra Care 101: How To Wash Bras

5.  Not hand-washing your lingerie.

It’s okay to use the washing machine to launder your lingerie when you’re short on time. However, the washing machine can be harsh on your delicate underthings. It’s best to hand-wash your lingerie in the sink. You can ring out excess water by pushing your hand against the garment. Don’t twist your lingerie to remove water before letting pieces air dry.

6.  Not using lingerie bags in the washer.

If you must use the washing machine, place your lingerie in a mesh lingerie bag first. The bag can be tossed into the washer and will protect the lingerie from other items. Allowing other garments to rub against your lingerie can cause pulling and snagging of the fabric. The lingerie bag also decreases the washer’s harshness on your lingerie, which can stretch lingerie.

7.  Washing lingerie with non-delicate items.

Another popular lingerie laundering mistake is washing lingerie with non-delicate items. For example, washing your bras with towels and wash cloths will create more lent on the bra. The lent can be hard to remove. And if it is removed, it can leave pulls in the bra’s fabric.

What do all these lingerie laundering mistakes have in common? Each can result in stretched elastic or damaged fabric – which means the lingerie won’t fit your body like it should. Properly laundering your lingerie isn’t just about keeping lingerie looking like new. Proper care allows lingerie to retain its shape, so it continues to fit your body like the day you bought it.

Every woman needs a variety of bras in her lingerie drawer – including at least a couple super comfortable bras she can wear all day. You want a bra that can fit your everyday style, whether you’re heading into the office or running errands. And, wouldn’t it be great if you could barely tell you were wearing the bra? That feeling is achievable! There are comfy bra styles available for both small and big busts.

Here are the five of the most comfortable bra styles:

Bralettes

are bralettes comfortable

A bralette is a feminine, decorative bra without padding or underwire. Bralettes give you that barely-there feel because there’s not much material to them. Although, they usually have additional material under the bust to provide some support. If coverage and support are your goals, bralettes may not be the best fit. The thin material doesn’t provide much coverage for your nipples.

Soft cup (wireless or wire-free) bras

If you want a comfy bra with no underwire, a soft cup bra is for you. Although soft cup bras lack underwire, they still provide a level of support while feeling natural on your body. Some soft cup bras may feature multi-part cups or inner support slings to provide support. Like bralettes, some soft cup bras may provide less coverage for your nipples.

Full cup bras are one of the most comfortable bra styles for women with larger breasts. With high sides, a long gore, underwire and a high bustline, a full cup bra provides utmost support and coverage.

Finding a comfy bra depends on how much coverage and support you want and need. Unlined and wireless will always be comfy bra styles for every day wear. If you’re a woman with large breasts, a bra style that provides maximum support and coverage will be the most comfortable bra for you.

Many women that go bra shopping make the same mistake. Unfortunately, it’s a mistake that can cost you money and prevent you from finding a bra that truly works. The mistake I’m referring to is not getting a bra fitting when buying new bras. When you pass up the opportunity to get a bra fitting, you’re passing on valuable bra insight, too.

Let’s discuss why women don’t get a bra fitting, and why this mistake is detrimental to finding the best bra for you.

Why should I get a bra fitting?

There are several reasons women may not get fitted for a bra when bra shopping. One reason you may not get a fitting is simply because you’ve never had one. It can be intimidating to try something you’ve never tried before, and you may not even know where to start. Perhaps you just don’t know how a bra fitting works or that this service is even offered.

Some women pass on getting a bra fitting because it means having another person in your personal space. A lingerie professional measures your bust, and many times it requires you to remove your shirt. This can make some people uncomfortable.

One of the biggest reasons that I think women don’t get bra fittings is because they don’t realize how beneficial the bra fitting is. If you don’t know why something helpful, why would you give a shot? Right? So, let’s talk about the benefits of a bra fitting.

Why are bra fittings beneficial?

Bra fittings are essential to finding the right bra size. (In fact, I didn’t know I was wearing the wrong bra size until my first bra fitting.) If you’re buying new bras based on the “trial and error” method, you’ll likely never find your true size. That’s because many women don’t know what to look for in a good-fitting bra.

Wearing the right size bra also maximizes your comfort level. Wearing a bra that’s too small can be painful on your breasts, shoulders or back. On the other hand, wearing a bra that’s too big can be unflattering, while also not fully supporting your bust. To ensure you get the perfect, most comfortable bra fit, you must get a bra fitting.

Want to know what to expect at your first bra fitting? Read on.

Here’s what you need to know about bra fittings:

Many lingerie retailers offer bra fittings for free and without an appointment. However, making an appointment for a bra fitting can help you promptly get the assistance you need. A trained, lingerie professional will take a few measurements of your bust to determine your size. She may come into the dressing room with you, and she may ask you to remove some clothing. This ensures she gets the most accurate measurements possible.

After the fitting, she’ll provide you with various bra styles to try on to see what you like best. You can typically expect to spend at least a couple hours in the lingerie store when bra shopping. The fitting takes time, plus you don’t want to rush through finding the bra style like best. Once you determine a bra style, you can then try on a variety of colors and designs to find something that suits your personality. (If you didn’t make an appointment, expect to spend a little more time in the store.)

Gaining or losing just a few pounds can adjust your bra size. It’s best to get a bra fitting every few months to ensure you’re wearing the best bra size for your body. And of course, you should opt for a bra fitting every time you’re buying new bras.

Have you ever had a bra fitting? Share your experience with us in the comments below!

There’s no right or wrong bra for you, but there may be an ideal bra style to help you achieve a certain look. And, your bra says a lot about your personality, too. Have you asked yourself, “What type of bra should I wear?” If so, you’ve come to the right place! Let’s discuss various bra styles and the benefits of each so you’ll always know which bra is for you.

Demi Cup Bra

A demi cup bra has cups that go straight across the bust, covering about half or three quarters of your bust. This type of cup gives your breasts a lifted, rounder look, and the demi cup bra comes in a variety of materials and styles. Many demi cup bras are unlined, meaning only one piece of fabric is used to create the cup. This makes the demi cup bra comfortable for every day wear, yet it’s a sexy bra style.

T-shirt Bra

A t-shirt bra is an unlined, seamless bra that creates a smooth appearance under a t-shirt. T-shirt bras won’t be decorative with lace or embellishments, as this would not create that smooth look. An example of a t-shirt bra is a soft-cup wireless bra.

Push Up Bra

A push-up bra has extra padding in the sides of the cups to push your breasts in and up. This results in beautiful cleavage that looks great in low-cut tops or dresses. Depending on the bra, a push-up can make your breasts appear to be at least one cup size larger than your actual cup size.

Plunge Bra

A plunge bra has a plunging neckline, making it ideal to wear under low-cut garments. The gore (center panel of the bra) hits right below your breast line, so the bra is not seen in very low necklines. Many plunge bras have padding to push your breasts inward, creating cleavage, but not as much cleavage as a push-up.

Longline Bra

A longline bra has a bottom panel below the cups. This is a beautiful, vintage style that can be lined, or unlined, and wired, or wireless.

Full Cup Bra

A full cup bra is designed for women with full-bodied busts. The cups are larger, providing more coverage that results in superior support and shaping.

Bralette

A bralette is a light bra style that provides a barely-there feel. They’re typically lacy and feminine and serve as a sexy accessory under your clothes. Bralettes are not very supportive, unless you find a wired bralette.

Minimizer Bra

A minimizer bra is exactly what it sounds like – a style that minimizes the size of your breasts. This is a great bra style for women with large breasts that want them to appear smaller or more proportional.

Convertible Bra

A convertible bra can be “converted” into various bra styles because the straps are moveable. From halter to one-shoulder, these bras can be worn many ways.

Strapless Bra

A strapless bra is, of course, a bra without straps. This style is ideal under sleeveless or strapless garments.

Adhesive (Backless) Bra

An adhesive, backless bra is like a strapless bra, but it doesn’t have side panels or a back. An adhesive bra is the perfect option for backless garments or with deep necklines that can’t accommodate a plunge bra.

Whether you’re wearing a plunge neck dress or a fitted tee, there’s a bra for every occasion. When buying new bras, keep everyday use in mind. Having more than one go-to bra is essential to keeping your bras looking and feeling like new.
