Did you know that most lingerie brands release new collections for only two seasons per year (spring/summer and autumn/winter)? It’s true!

Of the two, spring/summer is easily the most colorful, fresh, and fun. While the rich color palettes and luxurious fabrics of autumn/winter are undoubtedly beautiful, we can’t wait to add fresh pops of color to our spring wardrobes. But color is the only perk we’re looking forward to. With the weather warming up, now is the perfect time to try lingerie as outerwear or a bra in a bold and bright shade for an unexpected surprise.

If you couldn’t tell from our enthusiasm, Spring/Summer 2019 is one of our favorite collections to date. Best of all? We’re giving you a sneak peek of our Spring/Summer collections right here on our blog.

First up: The Charm collection, which features a supportive Molded Balconette Bra, flattering Bikini, and gorgeous Underwire Babydoll in the prettiest floral print.

Charm Molded Balconette Bra

The Charm Molded Balconette Bra is a pretty strapless bra with molded cups, a wide band, and removable straps. The supportive band provides lift, support, and all-day comfort. The seamless cups are designed to virtually disappear under clothing so the focus is on you and your outfit and not your bra underneath.

Construction & Fit

Molded seamless cups constructed in printed microfiber and a supportive band are the stars of the show. The convertible, multi-way design makes the Charm Molded Balconette Bra a versatile option (and the perfect bra to pack for a vacation or weekend getaway). The center front and side back are lined with stabilized tricot for support.

Side boning creates a smooth silhouette and keeps the bra from rolling up. The sturdy band lined in power mesh offers extra support for all cup sizes. Silicone elastic on the top of the cups and wings works to keep the Charm Molded Balconette Bra in place. The keyhole at center front and delicate scalloped lace along the band add beautiful detail.

Also features: Removable straps and a back hook and eye closure

You’ll love this bra if…you’re looking for a supportive strapless bra in an anything-but-boring print.

Triangle bras are more than just a passing lingerie trend. They’re a classic lingerie style that we reach for again and again.

One of our favorite lingerie styles, triangle bras are much more common than you’d think. Their sexy, minimal coverage design can be found in bikini tops and bralettes in fabrics such as sheer mesh and stretch lace. Their soft padded cups often feature removable padded inserts so you can customize the level of coverage. Plus, they have endless styling options and they’re perfect for layering under a sheer top or slouchy tank.

With their plunging neckline, barely there coverage, and sexy design, this popular style can be found in many bralettes. In fact, you may already have a triangle bra in your lingerie wardrobe!

Wondering what’s so great about triangle bras and if they’ll work for your bust? Read on for everything you need to know.

What is a triangle bra?

A triangle bra gets its name from its triangle-shaped cups. Unlike the half moon cups of a demi bra, triangle bras are designed to provide less coverage – making them a sexy alternative to padded wireless bras. They have an versatile plunging neckline that works under a number of low-cut tops. Plus, many triangle bras are wireless and comfortable enough to wear all day long.

Are triangle bras only for small cup sizes?

No! Triangle bras provide lightweight support and shaping for both small and large busts.

For people with full busts (DD to K), look for triangle bras that have seamed cups, thick straps, a wide band, and a hook and eye closure in back for the most supportive fit. Keep in mind that a triangle bra won’t provide the same support as your favorite t-shirt bra or underwire bra, but what they lack in support they make up in style.

Will a triangle bra give my bust a natural look or a more rounded shape?

Triangle bras are designed to enhance the natural shape of your bust. Their design is closer to that of a bralette than a t-shirt bra.

For a rounded shape, look for a demi bra, t-shirt bra, or padded bra. In most cases, you’ll need a bra with molded cups to get the rounded shape you’re looking for.

Fit tips

When shopping for a triangle bra, keep in mind that the level of support they provide varies depending on their construction.

A triangle bra with a thin band will provide less support than a triangle bra with a wide band – this is because at least 80% of a bra’s support comes from the band. A bra with a wide band with boning is a more supportive option than one without.

Depending on the brand, triangle bras can be found in sizes like L and XL and band/cup sizes too. If you have a full bust, opt for a triangle bra that has cups with underwire in your bra size for the best fit.

Where to buy triangle bras

Your local lingerie store is one of the best places to shop for triangle bras. Specialty lingerie stores stock a wide range of sizes and styles, so you’re sure to find one you like. Plus, you’ll be able to try on the style before you buying – which is great if you’ve trying triangle bras for the first time.

In addition to local lingerie boutiques, you can find triangle bras online, too. Check out popular stores like Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Kohl’s, Nordstrom Rack, and Macy’s for the best selection in sizes from XS to 4XL and A-DD+ cup sizes.

Final considerations

Triangle bras are a beautiful, comfortable lingerie style that can be worn year round. They’re perfect for the hot summer months when you just want a lightweight bra. In soft fabrics like modal and microfiber, they’re a comfortable option for sleeping or lounging at home, too.

Thank you to The Lingerie Journal and Estelle Puleston for the lovely feature!

Ever say no to going somewhere because you’ve taken your bra off for the day? Us too! When you’ve had an exhausting day or suffered through the pain and discomfort of an ill-fitting bra (do yourself a favor and get a bra fitting asap!), nothing feels better than unhooking that bra and going braless.

In fact, you might be empowered to ditch your underwire bras completely. If so, we fully support you. Wearing a bra is a very personal choice. It’s up to the person if they want to wear one or not – no one else should make that decision for them.

If you going braless isn’t an option for any reason and you’re looking for an alternative to bras with underwire, a wireless bra is the next best thing. Wireless bras provide support, shaping, and lift without underwire. Depending on your breast shape and comfort preferences, they might be exactly what you’re looking for.

Here are six of our favorite wire-free bras that are so comfortable you won’t want to take them off (seriously!):

Emma Wire-Free Soft Padded Bra

best wireless bra for big bust

The Emma Wire-Free Soft Padded Bra is a wireless bra with seamless cups and a plunging neckline. The beauty of this bra is found in its phenomenal fit, high-quality microfiber fabrication, and minimalist design. This chic style provides shaping, support, and a hidden look under clothing – perfect for t-shirts and fitted tops and dresses.

Adriana Lace Bralette

best wire free bra

We love bralettes! The Adriana Lace Bralette is a stunning bralette that suits a multitude of breast shape. The cups are seamed for shaping and lined for opacity, while the power mesh-lined band features side boning and offers a snug, supportive fit. A J-hook at back converts the style from regular to racerback, which only adds to the versatility. In addition to being a great sleep bra, this beautiful bralette can also be worn out and about or while lounging around at home.

Aline Wire-Free Padded Bra

comfortable wireless bra

The Aline Wire-Free Bra is a molded t-shirt bra with wire-free cups and a subtly striped jacquard microfiber fabrication. Make no mistake – this bra is both stunning and supportive. The bottom band and side band are stabilized to eliminate bulk. Side boning helps to keep the bra in place – no need to roll about it rolling up or losing its support or shape.

Embroidered lingerie is having a major moment this season. From padded demi bras with decadent roses to sheer mesh cups with scalloped flowers, we just can’t get enough of this beautiful trend. The level of skill that it takes to produce these bras is even more noteworthy. You’ve probably heard that bras have many components (anywhere from 20 to 50 depending on the design) that require an immense amount of skill to cut and piece together by hand. Adding embroidery further complicates the construction process and makes us appreciate the level of detail, ingenuity, and expertise shown in embroidered designs even more.

The Emma Wire-Free Soft Padded Bra is a wireless bra with molded cups designed to be worn under t-shirts. This minimalist design features seamless, wire-free cups, a snug microfiber band, and thin adjustable straps. The comfortable cups provide the lift, support, and shaping that you’re looking for but have trouble finding in a wireless t-shirt bra. The plunging design of the Emma Wire-Free Soft Padded Bra works for many different necklines. Plus, the soft padded cups offer just enough coverage and opacity – making this a great bra for work or school.

Care

lingerie care

Proper care is crucial if you want your lingerie to last. We recommend washing lingerie in cold water and avoiding the dryer at all costs. Hand washing lingerie is the gentlest option (as it involves the least amount of agitation), but machine washing on the delicate cycle is also an option if you don’t have time to hand wash. If you do machine wash your bras, be sure to hook them first, separate the colors (bright colors may bleed onto your light-colored bras), and sort them into mesh lingerie bags. Panties should also be sorted by color and placed in separate bags so the bra hooks don’t snag delicate underwear.

To wash, use a gentle detergent or laundry soap designed for lingerie and wash them on a delicates cycle in cold water. Once they’re washed, either hang dry them (drape the center front of the bra over the hanger – don’t hang a wet bra by its straps) or lay them flat to dry (away from sunlight which can cause the colors to fade over time) with the cups facing up.

Lastly, be extra careful when storing your lingerie. For molded bras, line them up in a drawer with the cups facing up – one bra in front of the other. Unlined bras, bralettes, and non-molded sports bras can be folded in half and stacked on top of each other to save space. Panties can be folded and sorted by color or style in a lingerie drawer. Babydolls, chemises, and bodysuits can be on hangers in the closet or folded in a drawer. Bustiers and corsets often require special care, so they’re best kept in a drawer away from dust and sunlight.

One last thing…

Education is a big part of my job as a bra fitter. I feel fortunate to be partnering with Parfait on creating lingerie-related content with the goal of helping readers make educated and empowered shopping decisions. There is so much to bra fitting that we can’t cover in a single blog post, so the goal since the very beginning of the blog has been to tackle it one article at a time.

If you have any questions about any of these products or if you would like us to do a review on one we haven’t done yet, let us know in the comments below.

A breast augmentation is a big decision – one that requires a lot of planning beforehand. If you’re considering a breast augmentation, we encourage you to do as much research as possible before getting the procedure done. Know the risks, get clear on your reasons for wanting it, and above all, make sure that you’re doing it because it’s something that you really want – and it’s not to appease someone else.

When it comes to lingerie, buying bras after a breast augmentation is a different experience than buying bras pre-augmentation. Unfortunately, it’s typically not something that you find out about until you’re in the fitting room trying on a bunch of bras wondering why none of them fit quite right.

Here are three more things to consider when buying bras after a breast augmentation:

It’s important to wait until you receive your doctor’s approval before getting a bra fitting.

As exciting as buying new lingerie seems, don’t try to rush the healing process. Post-surgery, your breasts will be swollen and sore. As they heal, the swelling will go down and they’ll start to settle. No matter what your new size is, your breasts will need plenty of time to heal after surgery. During this time, you’ll be wearing a surgical bra that your doctor recommends.

You might be antsy to see how your new shape looks without a plain surgical bra, but it’s better to be patient. Wait until you get your doctor’s approval before getting a bra fitting and avoid bras with underwire. Your surgical bra is wireless for a good reason (bras with underwire can do more damage than good after surgery), so stick with it until you get the go-ahead from your doctor.

You might have to try on a bunch of bras to find the right styles for you.

As a bra fitter, I’ve helped a lot of people with augmented breasts find bras that fit. Many of them came to me because they couldn’t find the right bra size on their own. All too often, they would tell me that they told their doctor they asked for a certain cup size, but that cup size wasn’t fitting quite right. It’s entirely possible that you’ll end up wearing a different bra size than you expected.

Augmented breasts require special considerations when it comes to fit. They don’t have the same relaxed ease that non-augmented breasts do, so bras tend to fit augmented breasts different than non-augmented breasts. You’re likely going to have a difficult time finding a bra with a center panel (the part of the bra between the cups) that lays flat against your chest – even when the bra has a snug band.

With taller center panels, you may notice the center panel pulling away from your chest (which is normal when your breasts are so firm and full). For the best fit, look for bras with low center panels. Plunge bras are typically a great option for augmented breasts. Avoid full-coverage styles with tall center panels and push-up bras, too.

You don’t have to bra shop alone – a bra fitter can help.

Real talk: Bra shopping can a stressful experience for anyone. If you’re struggling with finding bras that fit (and you’ve received the green light from your doctor to switch bras), head to your local lingerie boutique and get a bra fitting pronto.

The bra fitters at your local lingerie store are trained to help people of all shapes and sizes find bras that feel amazing. No need to worry about the fit on your own – a bra fitter will handpick your bras and make sure they fit you well. They’ll do all the work for you – including showing you what a well-fitting bra looks like and answering all your lingerie-related questions. Some lingerie stores also accept bra donations too – making it a great time to donate new or like new bras that don’t fit anymore. Perfect!

Happy bra shopping!

Sometimes choosing the right bra can be just as challenging as putting the whole outfit together. We all have those days where we feel like we don’t have the right lingerie to wear.

This year, we’re focused on building lingerie wardrobes that work with our outfits – not against them. With spring right around the corner, now is the perfect time to clean out your lingerie drawer and get rid of bras that don’t fit or flatter your bust and stock up on bras that make you feel amazing, supported, and confident every day (believe it or not – lingerie can be a powerful mood booster!)

For many of us, bra shopping is a challenging, stressful, and frustrating experience. You’re not alone if you hate bra shopping and wait until your last bra breaks before buying a new one. But there is a lot more to bra shopping than trying on bras. As a bra fitter, I’ve helped thousands of people find bras that fit, so I’ve created a few guides to help you along the way and make bra shopping easier than ever for you. Feel free to ask any questions below or visit your local lingerie store for extra help. They’re also happy to answer any lingerie-related questions you might have.

Now onto the good stuff. In these guides, we’ll be covering some of your most popular lingerie questions, like: “What bra should I wear under a t-shirt?”, “What’s the best bra for a low-cut neckline?”, and “What bra works best under a backless dress?” No matter your bra size, breast shape, or budget, I’ll be sharing the styles that suit each outfit – and a few important fit tips to keep in mind, too.

Next up: the best bras to wear with backless and low back tops and dresses. Read on for everything you need to know!

Backless and low back tops and dresses

Low back bustier

Looking for a bra that will boost your bust and nip in your waist? The Elissa Low Back Bustier will be your new favorite. This chic bustier features firm panels in smooth microfiber with added boning to slim and shape the torso. The boning is strategically placed to ensure a contoured fit. The padded cups offer a seamless look under clothing, but keep in mind that the torso is not completely seamless and may show through sheer or tight clothing.

One of the best features of the Elissa Low Back Bustier is its wide bottom band, which helps to keep the bustier from twisting or moving out of place. Plus, the microfiber fabric won’t catch on other fabrics – making it easy to wiggle into form-fitting dresses without having to worry about your lingerie underneath. We also love the strapless padded cups and low back design, which make it the perfect foundation for strapless dresses and tops with low cut backs (and wedding dresses too).

Adhesive bra

Have you ever worn an adhesive bra? Adhesive bras are an alternative to a strapless bra or bustier. This popular design can vary in style, but the concept is more or less the same. Adhesive bras are sold with two separate cups that may or may not attach or fasten between the breasts. Molded adhesive bras are often the most popular because they provide a seamless, rounded shape under clothing and leave the back completely bare. Adhesive bras are a viable option for backless tops and dresses.

Depending on the style you choose, you may even be able to get a little push-up padding for lift, but keep in mind that they are far less supportive than your favorite bra. Adhesive bras lack a band, so their support is limited to what you’re naturally blessed with. If you wear a larger cup size, they won’t provide the lift that you’re used to from your every day bras.

Go braless

Can’t find a bra that will work under your outfit? Consider going braless. Braless can be a good option if you’re worried about ruining the silhouette of the top’s design. If you wear an AA, A, B, or C cup, going braless might seem like a natural option. If you wear a D cup or larger, going braless might not seem like your first choice.

How to go braless if you wear a larger cup size? Look for a top or dress that has a structured bodice so you can get lightweight support for your bust. Empire seams, adjustable straps, and halter necklines may also make it easier to go without a bra. No matter which option you choose, wear it with confidence and let your natural beauty shine though!

If you’re having trouble finding a bra that fits well, set aside some time to visit your local lingerie store for a bra fitting and get help from lingerie experts. A supportive and comfortable bra is worth the extra time and effort. Good luck!

Plunging or Low-Cut Necklines

Plunge bras

Need a bra that won’t show under a low-cut neckline? Look no further than a plunge bra. This daring style will enhance your cleavage and give you the sexy look that you’re looking for. Design-wise, plunge bras are typically molded bras with a low center panel. Their design brings breast tissue front and center – making them a stellar choice for v-necklines. Because you’re going against gravity to lift breast up, you’ll need a snug band to keep everything in place.

Plunge bras, like any other bra style, will fit best with a snug band that fits comfortably but feels firm and secure. So even if the band feels snug (but not tight) at first, opt for that size because it will stretch in time depending on how often you wear it (and how well you take care of it).

Demi bras

For some breast shapes, plunge bras are a tricky fit. With cups that are cut straight across (as opposed to angled toward the center like a plunge bra) and wide set straps, a demi bra might be a better solution if you struggle with finding plunge bras that flatter your bust.

Demi bras are designed to cover half of the breasts while providing a lifted look. No need to worry about your breast tissue spilling out of the center or having to readjust your breast tissue throughout the day. Demi bras are a universally-flattering style that works for almost every breast shape, so there’s a good chance it will work for you too.

Fit tips

what bra to wear under plunging neckline

Real talk: It can challenging to find a bra that works with a plunging neckline. No matter which style you choose, opt for a snug band that feels secure and stays in place. For a new bra, you’ll want to start the bra on the loosest hook to get the most wear out of the bra. Keep in mind that the placement of the band is crucial to the fit – you don’t want the bra band to ride up your back.

If you choose a plunge bra or push-up bra with padding, the band may move up your back if the band is loose-fitting. For the best fit, your band should be parallel to the floor. You should also be able to fit two fingers between your skin and the band. Any less and the band is too tight; any more and the band is too loose.

Another fit tip: Don’t over tighten the straps. Tightening the straps will not give you the lift you want – that comes from the band and cups working together. Instead, be sure you can fit two fingers between your skin and the strap without the band moving up (adjust the straps accordingly if you need to).

Plunge bras have a tendency to push breast tissue toward the center. If your breast tissue is full at the bottom, you want feel like it’s trying to escape through the center of the bra. In some cases, a plunge bra may not work for you – and that’s totally ok. If you can make it work or only need to wear the bra for a few hours, consider using double sided fashion tape to avoid a possible wardrobe malfunction.

Demi bras are a great option for a number of breast shapes. Keep in mind the same principles for fit – snug band, breast tissue contained within the wires of the cups, and adjusted straps – and you’ll be good to go!

If you’re having trouble finding a bra that fits well, set aside some time to visit your local lingerie store for a bra fitting and get help from lingerie experts. A supportive and comfortable bra is worth the extra time and effort. Good luck!

First up: the best bras to wear under t-shirts. Read on for everything you need to know!

What’s the best bra to wear under a t-shirt?

A seamless bra in a shade that closely matches your skin tone. If you’re drawn to beautiful bold colors, opt instead for a neutral hue under a white t-shirt or anything sheer. The neutral shade will blend better with your skin tone and keep the attention on your outfit – not your bra.

Molded bras

When it comes to the bra’s design, molded bras are a natural fit for t-shirts because of the smooth, rounded shape that they create. Molded bras can also even out asymmetrical breasts, add volume with push-up padding, provide coverage to keep nipples from showing through, and lift, shape, and center breast tissue, too. Molded bras come in a variety of styles – push-up bras, demi bras, plunge bras, and longline bras – to name a few.

If molded bras aren’t your thing, non-molded bras are another great choice. For a hidden look under t-shirts, choose a lightly lined bralette or lightly lined bra with seamless cups. Avoid three-part cup bras and anything embellished or embroidered because the seams can show under t-shirts. And don’t forget to bring a t-shirt with you when you’re trying on bras in the fitting room so you can see how they look!

Fit tips

With t-shirt bras, your breast tissue should be completely encapsulated within the cups. If you choose a wired bra, you don’t want the wire resting on your boobs (all of your breast tissue should be in front of the wire.) Wireless bras are more forgiving in terms of fit – just be sure your breast tissue isn’t spilling over, under, or outside of the cups.

If you’re full-busted, check to make sure that the bra isn’t giving you a double boob or quad boob effect. Plunge bras and push-up bras can definitely cause this. If that’s the case for you, size up in the cup and see if that fixes the fit. If not, you may need a different style.

People with pendulous breasts that are shallow on top and full on bottom may have trouble filling the cups completely in a full coverage t-shirt bra. If this is the case, opt for a demi bra or balconette bra instead to get the best fit.

If you’re having trouble finding a t-shirt bra that fits well, set aside some time to visit your local lingerie store for a bra fitting and get help from lingerie experts. A supportive and comfortable bra is worth the extra time and effort. Good luck!
