We’ve all been there, we go out after work and get home way later than expected. You’re so tired, you don’t want to brush your teeth, take your makeup off or remove your bra. There’s countless information about whether or not it is safe to sleep in your bra, and that’s what we will discuss in this article.

Many experts claim that there is no evidence that any type of bra is harmful in any way. Perhaps one of the most common myths is the link between wearing a bra at night and an increased breast cancer risk. A 2014 case study was conducted by the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center found that no aspect of wearing a bra including frequency of wear had any link to breast cancer whatsoever.

Now that we’ve discuss that important thing, are there any health benefits to wearing a bra while you sleep at night? Some women believe that wearing one will help them maintain their round shape and perkiness. Many doctors say that our breast tissue is replaced by fat as we age, so nothing including a bra can prevent the pull that will occur. Also, pregnancy and breastfeeding can lead to this sagging look women try to avoid as much as possible too.

Ultimately if you feel okay sleeping without a bra on at night, then do it. If you have a larger chest and may feel more comfortable with them secure, that’s okay too. Much like other things regarding our health as women, wearing a bra at night is a personal decision. Many bra experts suggest even wearing a bralette, especially for larger-size women, who may experience pain without support throughout the night. For many, it simply is just uncomfortable to wear one as they try to sleep.

When sleeping with a bra, wear a soft-cup, wireless bra if you opt to wear one as it will lead to the least amount of discomfort. Also, make sure the bra you choose fits properly as a bra that is too tight constricts or blocks circulation. This can lead to lymphatic blockage where fluid accumulation can occur in the breasts.

When it comes to wearing a bra as you sleep, do whatever makes you the most comfortable. After all, it’s your health and your decision.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who has wondered, “how do bra sizes work?” Learning how to read a bra size tag doesn’t have to be difficult. If you feel confused in a sea of different letters and numbers, you are not alone. Bra sizing is difficult. Not only is it difficult, but so many women wear the wrong size bra, making a bra fitting important.

Understanding Band/Cup Sizes

Traditional bras include a letter and a number, for example 38C. The number represents the band size and the letter, the cup size. To get this number, measure tightly around the bottom of a bra band while wearing it. Round to the nearest whole number. Add two if the number is even and three if the number is odd. This is known as your band size.

In terms of the cup size, measure around your chest again placing the measuring tape at the fullest part of the bust. The tape measure should be parallel to the floor. Subtract your band size from your bust size. If the difference is 1, your cup size is A and so on. This measurement refers to the size of your breast in relation to your rib cage. It’s important to note that some bra fitting experts don’t agree with this method of measuring your cup size and suggest trying on different cup size bras to find the best fit for your particular bust. Ultimately, cup size doesn’t represent volume, but instead the different between the dimensions of the breast and the rib cage. It is not possible to determine someone’s true breast size by their cup size along.

Remember that this is a guide. Bra sizing isn’t standard and like clothing designers, bra manufacturers will determine their own fit. You may wear a different size in different brands, so regular sizing is important. Also, don’t assume your bra size will always remain the same. Losing weight, becoming pregnant or breastfeeding are all instances that may affect your bra size.

How Does Sister Sizing Work?

Bra sizes that are similar in breast volume are referred to as sister sizes. These sizes demonstrate that if your bra cup fits your breast perfectly, but you need a different band size (because it is too loose or too tight) that you will need to change your cup size to achieve the same fit. One’s sister size will depend on their current cup size and the fit of their bra.

Learning your sister size can be determined by a few questions:

Do your cups fit seamlessly and smoothly without spilling?

If yes, continue on, if no, then your bra cups aren’t fitting as they should and you need a professional bra fitting.

Which hook setting do you use?

If the tightest, sister size up (One size larger than your current bra and one letter up). If you use the loosest, sister size down (one size smaller and one letter larger).

Ultimately, having a bra that fits is important and can be a stressful journey. In reality, more than one size bra may fit you. That should be exciting, but to many, it just means a longer hunt to finding the dream bra that does the job right the first time. Understanding all the components to a proper bra size and fitting will help you get closer and closer to that perfect fit. Learning how to read a bra size tag and how sister sizes work are just two more life lessons for girls to master in their lifetime. I’m still working on it! Happy bra shopping!

Whether you’re trying to make it in your chosen career path, want to see if you enjoy a certain job type, or are just looking for some extra cash, internships can provide invaluable experience and great fodder for building your resume. Here are a few ways to make the most of your time as an intern, whatever your industry!

1.  Find a mentor.

Whether your internship is seasonal, or year long, finding a mentor who can challenge your mindset and open up new possibilities to you is always worthwhile. Try finding someone outside of your team, even outside of your department, that inspires you. Maybe their name gets mentioned a lot in your meetings, or your coworkers have nothing but nice things to say about this person. Or take the opposite approach, and find someone who other people struggle to relate to. That doesn’t mean finding the most abrasive or insulting person at your job, but having insight into a driven, complicated person could give you an advantage in the office; learning to work well with different types of people is always beneficial.

2.  Always under promise and over deliver.

Many make the mistake of setting unrealistic deadlines, suddenly getting swamped with work, and then not being able to deliver the work as promised. If you don’t have a consistent workload, start by finding out if the person who has assigned you the job has a drop date: the date the work has to be done by. They’ll either give you a hard deadline, and then you have your answer, or they’ll give you a vague answer, like “whenever you can get it done” or “by the end of the week.” Then you can schedule your work by priority, knowing that if you need the extra time on certain tasks, you have it. This way, your getting your work done with expediency, and hopefully delivering good quality work under the deadline set.

3.  Don’t be the first one to leave.

In cubicle world in particular, someone is always watching. You don’t want to get a reputation for being the first one out the door when the clock strikes 5pm, because it makes you look like you don’t want to be there (and even if you don’t, you don’t want to give that impression). You want your coworkers to see you as eager to learn, full of enthusiasm for the job, and busy. Busy people don’t leave just because the work day is “officially” over. So take your time, stop and socialize, and leave a lasting impression on your coworkers as someone who actually wants to be there. That’s what they’ll remember long after you’re gone.

4.  Show that you’re invested in the internship and willing to help out.

Whether you’re doing coffee runs, making cold calls, or photocopying, always show willingness to do the work given to you. Your coworkers know it’s boring grunt work, and often they can’t help that. But if you keep showing up with enthusiasm, and showing a willingness to do anything they throw you’re way, they are more likely to give you the good stuff when it pops up, because they know you really want to succeed.

5.  Always ask for more.

Don’t sit idle. You’re there to learn, to succeed, and to hopefully be challenged in your role. Some internships have a lot of down time, but that doesn’t have to be the case. Remember that mentor you have? Ask your boss if it’s okay if you shadow them for a day (or one of your other teammates or coworkers). Found a cool seminar you could do online? Send it to your boss and ask if you can take it over your lunch break. Hear about a project you think sounds exciting? Tell your boss you want in on it. This all goes back to showing willing: if you put in the time to find work and projects or tasks to fill your time, you’re going to make a much better impression on your boss and coworkers than if you sit at your desk doing nothing and playing on your phone.

6.  Don’t be afraid to ask questions.

This is a common mistake that newbies make. Whether it’s an assignment that confuses you or a project you’re unsure about, always ask questions. People would much rather you ask questions now and get the job done right than have to backtrack later, or even worse, spend time having to fix your mistakes. This also applies to meetings and projects you might be sitting in on: if you have questions, voice them. Curiosity is good, and wanting to learn more is never a bad thing.

7.  Build Relationships

Internships are great way to foster relationships and build a foundation for future work connections. Not only can you earn recommendations through your coworkers, but you can also find future mentors and bosses through internships. The best way to do this is stay in touch with the people you worked for (and with) during your internship. Update them on your career choices, your work applications, and your future endeavors. It may feel awkward to keep superficial connections alive, but if you’ve made a good impression through your internship, most people will be happy to help you further your career. You don’t have to email them weekly, or even monthly, but touching base every few months to let them know how you’re faring, and to ask them if they’ve heard of any opportunities in your field, will keep you top of mind in case any positions open up.

Though the bras we think of have only been around for 100 years, bras have transformed women’s fashion for a lifetime. A supportive garment that allows a woman to be whatever she wants to be: delicate, mysterious, nude or simply feminine. A bra is just one of the many garments that women have used to cover or modify the appearance of their breasts. The corset was once the sole garment used to push the breasts upward, long before the modern-day push-up bra. So, who invented the modern bra?

Bra History

Wearing something to support the breasts dates to ancient Greece. Women wore apodesmos or a breast band of wool or linen that was wrapped across the breasts and tied at the back. In Austria in the 1400s, women wore two cups made of linen sewn with fabric to extend down the torso with rows of eyelets for fastening.

Who Invented the Modern Bra?

When it comes down to what year was the bra invented, experts argue a bit here. The corset was initially split into two pieces by Herminie Cadolle and she sold them as separates in 1905. However, Mary Phelps Jacobs, who never received credit for design, invented the first modern bra in 1913. After selling her patent to the Warner Brothers Corset Company, sales skyrocketed, so she never earned the financial rewards of her design really. Her ‘Backless Brassiere’ was popular during WWI because it was more comfortable than corsets, it was modest and gave support and the government needed to conserve steel for the war.

Who Invented the Push-Up Bra?

The WonderBra brand introduced the first push-up bra in Canada called the Dream Lift in 1963. Its first TV commercial came in 1968. The brand added the front hook version of the push-up bra in 1973.

When it comes to women’s intimates, the market is continuously changing. What’s coming next? We will just have to wait and see.

Have you ever struggled with finding bras that fit and didn’t know where to turn? Welcome to our Best Lingerie Stores series, where we’re chatting with the best local lingerie stores and sharing their bra fitting expertise with you. These lingerie stores have helped hundreds of thousands of women find their favorite bras — and they want to help you look and feel your best too. This week, we chatted with Christine Longette of Brazen Bras in Freehold, New Jersey.

All About Brazen Bras:

Parfait Team: What inspired you to start a business?

Christine Longette: It’s kind of a funny story.  A few years back I had been frustrated at my job where my boss haphazardly decided to close the office over the holidays and leave all the staff without pay for 2 weeks.  During that 2 weeks, my one and only bra that really fit somehow disappeared.  In looking around for a store near my home that sold my size (34G) I found that there weren’t any unless I drove over 30 minutes away.  So… I guess I was inspired by my own need, and knew that couldn’t be the only woman in my area who wears a hard to find size.

PT: What about the lingerie industry interested you?

CL: My first experience with anything business related in the lingerie industry was when I attended my first CurvExpo Show in NY.  Once there, I was hungry to learn all I could about what was available and what might work in getting my business off the ground.  I sat in countless booths during the 2 days I attended and learned from so many different sources.  The most interesting aspect of the whole thing was how helpful and community-like it felt.  I even spoke with other boutique owners and they were so helpful.  The feeling I got, and still have, is that we’re not competitors – we’re all in this together.

PT: What do you enjoy most about working with your daughter, Angela Longette?

CL: We have so much fun at work.  We seem to complete each other’s thoughts most of the time, and other times we balance each other out.  We get a lot of mother/daughter shoppers and it’s always fun to work with them.  Funny thing is many times she ends up working with the mom as I work with the daughter.

PT: Your store is located in Freehold, NJ. How did you decide on the location?

CL: I’ve lived in Freehold for the past 28 years.  When I realized there were no specialty lingerie boutiques in the area, I knew it was time to open one.

PT: Tell us about your store name. What inspired the name Brazen Bras?

CL: I had been throwing ideas around but nothing seemed to stick and then, believe it or not, I just woke up with the name in my head one morning, along with the logo idea.  I wanted my shop to empower women.  Essentially what we sell is confidence.  The bras are just a means to an end.

PT: What do you enjoy most about your local community?

CL: My local community is wonderfully diverse.  We have a wonderful mixture of ages, ethnicities, and orientations in ours and the surrounding towns which gives us the opportunity to reach out to an incredibly large pool of women/people who can benefit from what we offer.  It also makes shopping and buying the lingerie we sell much more fun.  We carry a large variety of different types of lingerie beyond the bra and panty.  We strive to be a “safe place” where anyone can feel comfortable shopping and our local community seems to be very supportive of that.  Our participation in the Susan G. Komen fund raiser is an example of the community supporting us as we help to empower our community.

PT: Congratulations on your four-year anniversary! Do you have any big plans you can share with us?

CL: We haven’t planned anything yet but we’re hoping to put some kind of celebration together in the late spring or summer.

PT: You were a part of the 2nd Annual Pink Power Party fundraiser on February 9 at iPlay America! What can you share with us about the event?

CL: The Pink Power Party was a huge success!  We raised over $12,000 for Susan G. Komen.  The original date of the event was snowed out and on the “snow date” some of our models were not available so all of our staff modeled lingerie in the show.  It was an unexpected but fun turn of events and I think did a lot to empower the community women when they saw the women that work at the store up on the runway being “Brazen”.  We’re all different shapes and sizes here so it was a great example of the range of sizes we carry and how ANY woman can feel bold, beautiful, and brazen.

PT: Brazen Bras has 45 5-star reviews on Facebook! What’s the secret to creating a memorable experience for customers?

CL: We try to make a visit to our boutique relaxed and fun.  Many women are stressed out by trying on bras so we try to take that stress out of the equation.

Bra Fitting at Brazen Bras:

PT: Why is it important for women to get a professional bra fitting?

CL: Women’s bodies never really stop changing and I feel that is the most important reason to come in at least once or twice a year for a professional fitting.  A woman may gain or lose weight, she may be pregnant or have just given birth, or had a procedure, or is going through puberty or menopause, or so many other factors, and all these things can affect the size and style of bra that would be best for her.  Sometimes a style she has been wearing for years is no longer right for her body.  A professional fitting can diagnose and fix any bra issues she has been having.

PT: What do you wish all women knew about lingerie and professional bra fitting?

CL: The fitting is so much more than reading the numbers on the tape measure.  We are constantly astounded at the number of women who come in needing to learn how to put on and arrange themselves in a bra properly.  It always feels great to have women leave feeling like they’ve had a life changing experience just by getting a proper fit and learning the proper placement of the wires or how tight straps should be worn.  It’s also great to see the boost in confidence they get along with the new lingerie they take home.  I also wish that women didn’t get so caught up in what “size” they are.  We like to point out that they may end up in several different sizes depending on where something was manufactured and the style.

PT: You’re committed to offering a diverse range of styles and sizes for your customers. What do you look for when selecting new styles?

CL: Each time someone comes in with an impossible list of bra traits that makes them a difficult sell we will make a note of what they want that we don’t have.   Then, when we shop for new styles we take a look at our customer “wish list” and see which wishes we can fill.  Some things it doesn’t make sense to carry, and others may be impossible to even create, but it does help us to pick new styles.

PT: We love that you carry bras under $50. What are some of your favorite budget-friendly bras?

CL: Well, Parfait is our favorite brand of lower priced but still good quality bras.  It seems to appeal to a wide range of women and they like that it is not too expensive to get two or to add the matching panty.

PT: What is the largest bra size you carry?

CL: Currently the largest band size is 52 and the largest cup size is K.  The number of choices of styles varies with more choices in the more common sizes.

PT: What are your current best-selling bras?

CL: The Parfait Aline is very popular right now, as is the Andorra by Panache.  The Panache sports bra is also popular.

PT: How many bras does a woman actually need in her lingerie wardrobe?

CL: I would say a woman needs approximately 6 good bras in her lingerie wardrobe.  A t-shirt bra in beige & black; a strapless; a non-molded bra, a sports bra, and a date night pretty bra.

PT: Some of us are shy about buying colored bras. What advice would you give to a woman who loves color, but isn’t sure how to incorporate it into her wardrobe?

CL: Many times a bra in a fun color can be worn under anything that you would normally wear a black bra underneath. Why not have fun with color instead of wearing black all the time?

PT: What can you tell our readers about the bra fitting experience at Brazen Bras?

CL: All of our sales girls are trained to fit to the person.  We don’t just look at the tape measure. We take into consideration the customer’s preferences, their body concerns, and we are sensitive to their insecurities.  Our goal is to have to remind you to put your shirt back on before you leave.  Most times we succeed!  Overall, it is a fun experience and surprises our customers who come in expecting something less pleasant.

PT: We love that you offer appointments for bra fitting. How can we schedule an appointment?

CL: Appointments are offered but not necessary unless you would like to come in when we’re not normally open.  Just give us a call at 732-333-0259 during business hours and we’ll arrange to have someone open up for you and you will essentially get your own private shopping day.  Another reason you might want to call for an appointment is if you have a specific fitter you’d like to work with.  If so, just give us a call at 732-333-0259 and we’ll let you know when your fitter is on schedule. You can also email us through the contact us button on our website and leave a phone number for us to call you.

Shopping for a new swimsuit can be frustrating, exhausting, and discouraging. But it doesn’t have to be.

Wondering how to make shopping painless? Below, 12 tips to make swimsuit shopping a whole lot easier.

1.  Know your body type.

It’ll help you choose swimsuits that are the most flattering. If you’re full-busted or you have big boobs, try a cute (and supportive!) swimsuit top with bra cup and band sizing. Retailers like Nordstrom, Kohl’s, and Lord and Taylor are always well-stocked with amazing options. If you’re small busted, tops with pleating, ruffles, and ruching were practically made for you!

2.  Dress comfortably.

Choose an outfit for shopping that’s easy to take on and off. Throw on an easy breezy dress with chic sandals or a t-shirt, jeans, and a comfy pair of flats and you’re ready for a shopping trip. While we’re talking about outfits, don’t forget to wear underwear. Be sure to bring a hipster, bikini, or full coverage brief with you to wear while trying swimsuit bottoms on.

3.  Shop sans makeup, perfume, self-tanner.

Since you’ll be trying a few suits on, it’s best to avoid wearing makeup or applying self tanner beforehand. Perfume (depending on where it’s applied) can leave a lasting scent on clothing. Not only is it considerate to other shoppers, but it’s also hard to remove make-up and tanning lotion marks and stains from clothing, and fragrances can trigger migraines for some women. Apply your make-up, self tanner, and perfume after you find the perfect swimsuit!

4.  Give yourself plenty of time to shop.

Shopping for swimsuits can be stressful when you’re rushed. Be sure to set aside plenty of time to shop and try things on.

5.  Start online.

If you’re planning on visiting a store that has a website, check out their products online first and read reviews to see what others are saying.

6.  Bring two sizes with you into the fitting room.

Sizing can vary wildly from brand to brand. Be prepared to try on a few sizes before you find the perfect fit. It’s so much easier to keep trying things on when you’re already undressed.

7.  Ask the sales associates for recommendations.

They might introduce you to a new brand or suggest something you wouldn’t normally try. They’re also experts and can help you find the right swimsuit for your body type.

8.  Don’t be afraid to mix and match.

Most brands offer separate tops and bottoms so you can customize your set with the best styles for your body type.

9.  Take selfies.

If you’re having trouble seeing what the back looks like in the fitting room, grab your phone and take a picture. We all know that the lighting isn’t always the best in fitting rooms- selfies can help you determine if the swimsuit looks good from all angles.

10.  Own your personal style.

Whether you prefer all black to bright colors or a full coverage one-piece to a Brazilian bikini, always choose the swimsuits that speak to your personal style.

11.  Go into it with an open mind.

You might end up loving a swimsuit that you didn’t like on the hanger!

12.  Last but not least, be sure to choose a comfortable swimsuit.

That means buying the right cup and band size if you’re shopping for a bra-sized top (even if your favorite is sold out in your size) and sizing up or down in the bottoms if you need to.

We Highly Recommend

If you’re shopping for a swimsuit that fits your bust perfectly, it’s always a good idea to seek out a second opinion. This week, we chatted with Brooke Pauly of Foundation 45 in Hood River, OR.

All About Foundation 45:

Parfait Team: What inspired you to start a business?

Brooke Pauly: Hood River is a small town and work is a difficult to find. I have always loved lingerie and there was a real need for something in our little town. We are an hour or more away from the nearest city so when the location became available we jumped. It was a little crazy We decided to do the store in January, signed the lease in March opened June first and had our second baby August 30.

PT: What about the lingerie industry interested you?

BP: I love lingerie but I also really like the fact that it is a small niche of the fashion industry. Women’s fashion is so vast, buying for my store is really much easier than clothing.

PT: Your store is located in Hood River, OR. How did you decide on the location?

BP: We had already lived here for 7 years.

PT: Tell us about your store name. What inspired the name Foundation 45?

BP: Foundation because that is what we sell. And 45 because we are located just north of the 45 parallel. When I first opened we were called Underpinnings but there is another store of the same name in Santa Fe and they sent their lawyers after us. Funny thing is that we has searched nationwide and never found them but we carried many of the same lines so I guess they felt threatened.

PT: What do you enjoy most about your local community?

BP: It is a beautiful small town located in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Our community is very close knit and supportive.

PT: Congratulations on your seven-year anniversary! Do you have any big plans you can share with us?

BP: No not really….we are just gonna’ keep on keepin’ on 🙂

PT: What’s the secret to creating a memorable experience for customers?

BP: Kindness, respect and being kind of casual. People have such an idea of what a lingerie store will be like so when they come in and we are friendly, chatty and mellow I think they are surprised. You are also often dealing with people that have been through difficult situations (breast cancer, weight loss or gain) so being sensitive and caring is so so important.

Bra Fitting at Foundation 45:

PT: Why is it important for women to get a professional bra fitting?

BP: Because they are all wearing the wrong size!

PT: What do you wish all women knew about lingerie and professional bra fitting?

BP: It is not uncomfortable and you don’t have to be naked if you don’t want to be. It doesn’t take a long time and can actually be a pretty fun experience. Also, a proper fitting bra with change your life!!!

PT: You’re committed to offering a diverse range of styles and sizes for your customers. You carry brands such as Cosabella, Spanx, Else Lingerie, Samantha Chang, and Parfait with a wide range of colors, styles, and sizes (with bras up to 40FF!) What do you look for when selecting new styles?

BP: Fit, construction/fabrication and size range. Price point is also of course important.

PT: What are your current best-selling bras?

BP: Affinitas Nicole T-shirt bra, Natori Feathers, Wacoal basic beauty.

PT: How many bras does a woman actually need in her lingerie wardrobe?

BP: I try to get ladies to shoot for about 5 at a minimum.

PT: Some of us are shy about buying colored bras. What advice would you give to a woman who loves color, but isn’t sure how to incorporate it into her wardrobe?

BP: Well most colored bras actually work as a great alternative to black. Ladies feel like they are not practical but that is not really true. I usually try to have ladies put their shirt on when trying bras on  and you can really illustrate that point.

PT: What can you tell our readers about the bra fitting experience at The Girls Custom Bra Fittings?

BP: We try to keep it quick and painless. Fitting is really just a guideline so actually getting people in bras is most important. We will bring them the whole store if necessary to get them to try styles they usually would not and to find the best fit in each style/brand. We also serve wine….that helps a lot J

PT: We love that you offer appointments for bra fitting. How can we schedule an appointment?

BP: You never need an appointment for a fitting but can certainly make one if time is a crunch for you. But regardless of what you are looking for call or email work great for us. Whatever is easier for you, or just walk in and chat with us about it.

This week, we chatted with Naomi Preston and Dawna Reynolds of The Girls Custom Bra Fittings in Harrisonville, Missouri.

All About The Girls Custom Bra Fittings:

Parfait Team: What inspired you to start a business?

Naomi Preston & Dawna Reynolds: We have both been in the industry for a long time. During our times of working with women, we saw how we changed lives everyday. When the store we worked for at the time closed, we decided to take the plunge in opening our own. We had so many customers getting a hold of us begging us to open another shop…we didn’t have much of a choice!

PT: What about the lingerie industry interested you?

NP & DR: The fact that it can change so many lives! When a woman comes into our shop and feels “frumpy”, the right bra and panty set or lingerie can change her entire week! It can even change her entire life by improving back pain, health and just plain making her feel worth it.

PT: Your store is located in Harrisonville, MO. How did you decide on the location?

NP & DR: Harrisonville is very close to where we both live. It always is a great hub for lots of towns surrounding as well. Harrisonville is a very faithful community and we can’t imagine our store anywhere else!

PT: Tell us about your store name. What inspired the name The Girls Custom Bra Fittings?

NP & DR: Customers used to know both of us as the fitters who lovingly called breasts “The Girls”, so it was only natural to name our own store “The Girls”. We also jokingly say that we are The Girls who help The Girls! So many fun ways to play with the name. We love to keep it fun and not so heavy.

PT: What do you enjoy most about your local community?

NP & DR: The dedication! This community still prefers to shop small, and it is so refreshing! They love one on one service which in turn makes all of our customers become friends as well.

PT: Congratulations on your two-year anniversary! Do you have any big plans you can share with us?

NP & DR: Yes! We recently expanded our store and now have a licensed Esthetician specialist working out of our shop. She specializes in facials, hydro-facials, full body waxing, lash extensions and spray tanning. Our businesses mesh so well and create great foot traffic for us both!

PT: The Girls Custom Fittings has 85 5-star reviews on Facebook! What’s the secret to creating a memorable experience for customers?

NP & DR: We are so proud of those 5-Star ratings! We feel that when a customer comes into our shop, they leave as a friend. And it is only natural to want to praise your friends. This is where the 5-Star reviews come into play. We have never offered our customers an incentive to give us a great review, those all just come from their heart!

Bra Fitting at The Girls:

PT: Why is it important for women to get a professional bra fitting?

NP & DR: Bras all run so different! Each company runs different and even styles within a company can run different. It is impossible to know how each one runs as the consumer! Plus, who can actually adjust their own straps? Having a professional fitting puts all the work back on us. Let us figure out how each one runs, and let us pamper the customer.

PT: What do you wish all women knew about lingerie and professional bra fitting?

NP & DR: That it is critical, and shouldn’t even be an option. That, you as the customer, deserve to be taken care of and have someone work for your sale. That a beautiful fitting bra and panty set could perk up your whole day and you are worth a professional fitting!

PT: You’re committed to offering a diverse range of styles and sizes for your customers. You carry brands such as Paramour, Freya, and Parfait with a wide range of colors, styles, and sizes (with bras up to 54M!) What do you look for when selecting new styles?

NP & DR: Quality and fit. Naomi has a seamstress background so she is looking for structure and shape. We want to have a diverse range of shape as well as size! Dawna specializes in knowing and understanding fashion. She is watching for what is trending and what we are missing in colors and prints. We never want a woman to walk into our shop and have nothing to choose from. We try to fill every niche possible!

PT: We love that you have a large selection of bras under $50. What are some of your favorite budget-friendly bras?

NP & DR: Parfait of course! Parfait and Affinitas offer such a nice selection at such a great price point! But to add to that would be, B’Temped, Felina, Goddess and Lunaire.

PT: What are your current best-selling bras?

NP & DR: Our number one selling style is Versailles by Lunaire. The fit is amazing and the price point is unbeatable! After that, A-Line and Tess by Parfait. Basic Beauty by Wacoal and Aubrie by Felina.

PT: How many bras does a woman actually need in her lingerie wardrobe?

NP & DR: At least 7! One for every day of the week. We try to encourage our customers towards this number even if it means they need to purchase them a few at a time. Some can purchase that many all at once but we love to give everyone that goal to shoot for. We both own over 20 and we still feel out of bras some days!

lingerie kc mo

PT: Some of us are shy about buying colored bras. What advice would you give to a woman who loves color, but isn’t sure how to incorporate it into her wardrobe?

NP & DR: Great question! We tell our ladies, that as modest midwestern women, we layer a lot! And when you layer, you can easily incorporate color! When the customer really thinks about that, they grab onto the idea. Plus, you can wear color under basically anything but white. And it makes us all feel a little feisty!

PT: What can you tell our readers about the bra fitting experience at The Girls Custom Bra Fittings?

NP & DR: It truly is like no one else. We become your personal shopper, you won’t have to work hard while you are here! We will work with you one on one the entire time you are in our shop. We will ask questions, get to know your fears and concerns as well as educate you. We are not about sales, we are about finding great solutions to your bra and lingerie whoas.

PT: We love that you offer appointments for bra fitting. How can we schedule an appointment?

NP & DR: We are only open by appointment so that we can spoil our customers, but it is so easy to make one! You can make an appointment right on Facebook, Instagram, via Text or e-mail.
