Purple is always an unexpected color choice for lingerie. From rich violet to vibrant fuschia and soft lavender, there’s a shade of purple for every aesthetic. On its own, purple is synonymous with royalty, wealth, mystery, and power. As a complementary shade, it pairs perfectly with gold, turquoise, charcoal gray, black, and navy. Below, my favorite bras in shades of purple for adding a touch of whimsical color to neutral outfits:

Who else is ready for new lingerie? The first day of spring is coming up on March 20 and all we can think about is how the season’s prettiest blush pinks and soft prints are going to look against our sunkissed skin. With spring cleaning already under way, we’re packing away the rich, dark colors we wore throughout winter in favor of softer colors with floral embroidery and sheer stretch lace. This season, we’re seeing pretty pastels, fresh designs in white and ivory, and a lot of lace. We’re also seeing gorgeous bras with appliques and floral prints and lingerie being worn as outerwear (we’re all for it!)

Happy bra shopping!

Do you remember the last time you bought a bra that fit? It’s not easy to shop for bras when you wear a DD+ cup size! If you’re ever walked into a fitting room with 10 bras and walked out with one or none, you know what it’s like. Some of us prefer to avoid stores completely and shop online for bras. While shopping online has its perks, nothing is more discouraging than placing a huge order and having to return it all because nothing fits. When you’re on the never-ending quest for good bras (why do brands discontinue styles? why?), every moment that you spend shopping for bras counts.

If you’re lucky enough to have discovered a lingerie store in your neighborhood, then you’re already ahead of the game. But if you’re like the majority of us who are searching for bras that fit, then this is for you. No woman should have to suffer through the pain of an ill-fitting bra or worry about bra shopping. All women deserve bras that fit well and feel good. Period.

Ready to meet your next bra? Here are the top 5 best bra styles for big boobs:

1.  Padded Bra

charlotte padded bra 6901

Charlotte Padded Bra 6901 and Charlotte Bikini 6905 in Bronze

Charlotte is more than just a pretty bra. Aside from being the perfect mix of retro and sexy, there’s another reason the Charlotte Padded Bra is a #1 best seller. The molded cups have just the right amount of padding to magically fit almost any body type. The three part cup design and side sling bring your boobs front and center. The powermesh band is snug enough to keep your boobs lifted and supported all day long (after all, 80% of a bra’s support comes from the band).

34dd bra

Charlotte Padded Bra 6901 and Charlotte Bikini 6905 in Bronze

An added bonus? The Charlotte Padded Bra comes in sizes 32-38B, 32-44C, 28-40D to K, and 30-44D-G and it’s currently available in seven colors with an eighth color (all black) on the way!

2.  Plunge Bra

dd bras for big boobs

Casey Plunge Molded Bra 2801 and Casey Boyshort 2805 in Ruby Wine

Surprise! Didn’t expect a plunge bra, did you? If you’re looking for a bra that will work with your most plunging necklines, look no further than the Casey Plunge Molded Bra. The daringly low design was engineered specifically to prevent big boobs from spilling out in the center of the cups. Though not completely seamless, the molded microfiber cups are finished with a gorgeous floral lace border that draws the eye up to stunning decolletage. Aside from being a pretty everyday bra, it also features a wider band that provides extra support for fuller busts.

plunge bra big boobs

Jeanie Plunge Molded Bra 4801 and Jeanie Hipster 4805 in Navy Blue

If you like Casey, then you’ll love its chic sister Jeanie. As an E cup, the Jeanie Plunge Molded Bra is my go-to for an ultra low and completely seamless fit!

3.  T-Shirt Bra

t-shirt bra for big boobs

Aline T-Shirt Bra P5251 and Aline Bikini P5253 in Nude

Every woman needs at least one supportive t-shirt bra in her lingerie wardrobe. By far, the Aline T-Shirt Bra is one of the best t-shirt bras for big boobs. It’s made of a silky, striped fabric with smooth, seamless cups. Aside from the great fit, I’m a huge fan of the soft microfiber used for this style. It’s a bra that feels way more expensive than it is ($49!)

bras for big boobs

Tess Unlined Wire Bra P5022 and Tess Bikini P5023 in Ivory

If you like the Aline T-Shirt Bra, you might like the Tess Unlined Underwire Bra. As a alternate option to a cotton bra, the modal/spandex blend is comfortable and breathable. This style is also unpadded, so it’s a great option for anyone who prefers the natural shape of a non-padded bra. I like that the band offers a snugger fit than most cotton styles and doesn’t stretch out as quickly. An added bonus: It was designed for D+ cup sizes, so the size range includes sizes 30-40 D to G. Though it’s currently only available in two colors, ivory and charcoal grey, the grey functions surprisingly well as a neutral.

4.  Full Cup Bra

bra for big boobs without padding

Carole Unlined Wire Bra 3102 and Carole Hipster 3105 in Imperial Purple

For many of us, when we think of full cup bras, we typically think of the words “old-fashioned” or the phrase “something my grandmother would wear.” While that’s not necessarily a bad thing (I love a good vintage-inspired bra), no one wants to look matronly or outdated in their lingerie. This is why I love the Carole Unlined Wire Bra. It’s an unpadded style that strikes the right balance of sexy and sophisticated (which is no easy feat). The three-part lace cups look anything but matronly with a fuller coverage fit and a sheer mesh overlay that adds to the pretty design. Without a doubt, the Carole Unlined Wire Bra is a successful blend of fit, function, and fun. As for someone who owns and loves this style, it’s no surprise that it’s a best seller.

full bust bras

Marrianne Unlined Wire Bra P5152 and Marrianne Hipster P5155 in Champagne/Silver

If you like Carole, you might like the Marrianne Unlined Wire Bra, which has a full cup fit and is available in select sizes 30-40 D to G in three colors (black, cobalt blue, and champagne). The beautiful style also features exquisite silver thread weaved into the special lace covering the cups.

5.  Convertible Bra

strapless bra for large boobs

Elissa Contour Underwire Strapless Bra P5011 and Elissa Brazilian Thong P5014 in Pearl White

The Elissa Contour Underwire Strapless Bra is the perfect bra for every occasion as one of the most versatile styles on the list. The removable and adjustable straps allow the bra to be worn five different ways (halter, racerback, regular, strapless, and one-shoulder), while the wide band provides a snug fit with strong support. The molded cups offer more coverage than some of the styles above, but they’re also seamless and work with a variety of outfits. As a popular strapless style, two additional colors – nude and black – were recently added to offer more options than just the pearl white.

strapless bra for big boobs

Jeanie Strapless Contour Bra 4815 and Jeanie High-Cut Brief 4803 in Black

If you like the Elissa Strapless Bra, you might like the Jeanie Strapless Bra, which comes in two colors (nude and black) and also features seamless molded cups.

Bonus: A Beautiful Lace Longline Bra

a plunge bra that fits

Sandrine Plunge Longline Bra P5351 and Sandrine Hipster P5355 in Black

For some of us, a sexy lace bra is an everyday bra. While there are many lacy bras worth mentioning, the Sandrine Plunge Longline Bra is at the top of the list. It features a beautiful sheer lace band (with boning for extra support!) and a layer of lace that frames the cups and continues up to the straps. Without a doubt, this is one of those bras that is just too pretty to keep hidden. It would be perfect with a high waisted skirt or pants for a night out or worn as a top under a light cardigan in the summer. As a new style, it’s currently available in black and cameo rose (the most beautiful blush pink) with a moody yet romantic blue-gray color called French Blue coming soon.

bridal bralette full bust

Elissa Unlined Wire Bralette P5012 and Elissa Bikini P5013 in Pearl White

If you love Sandrine, you’ll love the Elissa Unlined Wire Bralette, an unpadded style that comes in pearl white and is even more lovely in person!

Which style is your favorite?

Gray is the perfect neutral under black, navy, cream, light pink, and cobalt blue. We love how understated grey lingerie is and how unexpectedly beautiful it looks when paired with silk, lace, and embroidery. There are at least 50 shades of grey, from slate to charcoal, dove to gunmetal, and even rose quartz to taupe. Calm, cool, and far from stony, gray lingerie is one of the best colors for a subtly monochromatic look when combined with silver jewelry. When it comes to gray, don’t be afraid to play with textures to create a look that’s anything but one-dimensional. We go for gray when we’re ready to taking a break from black (because sometimes it’s just too hot to wear black). Below, our favorite bras in shades of grey:

Happy International Women’s Day! Today, we celebrate and remember the women who have fought for our rights. We also recognize and join the women who are still fighting inequality and injustice today.

Though we’re only three months into 2017, we’re already breaking records. The January 21, 2017 Women’s March on Washington had one of the largest turnouts in its history. According to the Washington Post, between 3 million and 5 million women and men marched worldwide to protest unjust laws, call for fair legislation, and rally for equal rights for all women, regardless of age, race, religion, and sexual identity.

Furthering the message that women are powerful, February celebrated Black History Month and the achievements of brilliant female minds of the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries. Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, Ruth Ross, Septima Poinsette Clark, Josephine Baker, and Dorothy Height, Maya Angelou, and Angela Davis were among the extraordinary women celebrated.

Today, March 8, marks International Women’s Day and the ‘Day Without A Woman’ strike, which recognizes the significant value and contributions of women to the economy and society. As a feminist, I believe that all individuals, regardless of gender, sexual identity, and gender expression, deserve a comfortable working environment free from harassment and discrimination with fair wages, livable working conditions, and paid maternity and sick leave. In solidarity, I stand alongside all of the women around the world, protesting for equality.

Women have been fighting for our rights long before we were born. Historically, the Women’s Rights Movement started around 1848 and hit an important point in 1920, when women were finally granted the right to vote with the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution. Throughout time, women have fought for equality in civil rights, legislation, human rights, pay and fair wages, representation in the fashion and entertainment industries, and paid leave from work.

Though we have made great strides in our fight for equality, we still have a long way to go. Below, a timeline with a brief history of women’s rights that shows some of our most notable successes in the past 169 years and counting.

Versatile and daring, animal print always plays well with others. From zebra to leopard and blue to beige, animal print is both trendy and classic, fun and chic. It reads edgy when mixed with bright, bold hues and girly when paired with soft colors and sheer lace. We love the loudness of a pink patterned bra and the subtle sexiness of a lace bralette in leopard silk. As wild as it sounds, some of the best outfits are worn with leopard lingerie underneath. Below, our favorite animal print bras:

We know how challenging bra shopping can be, especially when it comes to bra sister sizing. While some of us may never use sister sizing, many of us will at some point. Bra sister sizing is useful when you’re shopping for bras from a brand that fits differently from the brands you usually buy. In fact, in some cases your bra sister size might be a better fit than your regular bra size. This is why it’s so important to understand what bra sister sizing is and when you might need to use it.

We’re passionate about helping you find bras that fit well and feel good, so we’ve created two simple charts to make bra sister size conversions as easy as possible. You can find our bra sister size conversion chart here and our US to UK bra size conversion chart here. We receive a lot of questions about bra sister sizing, so we’ve compiled some of the questions and answered them for you below. We hope they help you find the perfect fit!

What is bra sister sizing?

Bra sister sizing is a method of calculating an alternate bra size with the closest cup volume to your regular bra size in the next band size up or down.

When calculated correctly, your bra sister size should closely match the cup volume of your regular bra size.

For example, with bra sister sizing, a 32D, 34C, and 36B are all closely related in terms of cup volume, but the band size varies with each. If you’re typically a 34C, a 32D would be your sister size with a smaller band size and a 36B would be your sister size with a bigger band size.

What is the difference between my regular bra size and my sister bra size?

With sister sizing, the cup volume will be relatively the same, so the biggest difference between your regular bra size and your bra sister size is the fit of the band. Since 80% of your bra’s support comes from the bra band, you’ll want to double check the fit of the band in your sister size to make sure it fits well.

When would I use sister sizing?

In most cases, you would use sister sizing when the cups fit well, but the band size of your regular bra size feels too big or too loose. With sister sizing, you can adjust for the fit of the band without compromising room in the cups.

I want to buy bras from a brand that uses UK sizing but I only know my US bra size.

I’m new to sister sizing. Is there anything else I should know?

When it comes to sister sizing, be sure to double check the fit of the cups and band. You want a band that fits snugly, but isn’t too tight or too loose. Also, be sure to scoop all of your breast tissue into the cups so the side underwire sits behind where your breast tissue starts. Many bra fitters call this the “swoop and scoop”!

Lastly, try not to worry about the size on the tag. No one will see it but you. If wearing a size different than your regular bra size makes you uncomfortable, it’s completely ok to cut the inner bra tags out.

More than anything, it’s most important that you find a bra that fits well and feels good. If your sister size provides the best fit, wear it with the same confidence as you would with any other bra in your lingerie wardrobe!

We all have moments when we struggle with bra sizing while online shopping. Bra sizing can be at times both confusing and stressful, especially when we’re trying to figure out sister sizing and converting our bra sizes. Recently, we spoke about bra sister sizing and included an easy to use bra sister size conversion chart. Our chart uses UK sizing to help you determine your sister size in another UK sized brand.

While UK bra sizing is utilized by most full figured lingerie brands (like Parfait, Panache, Goddess, Fantasie), brands with products that use US bra sizing (like Wacoal, Natori, Felina, Blush) also cater to larger cup and band bra sizes. No matter where you’re buying your bras (whether it’s online or at a specialty store), it’s important to know how to convert your bra cup size from US to UK sizing.

What is one of the most important differences between UK and US sizing?

Many of us might not know that there are differences between US and UK sizing. For example, did you know that a US 36DDDD/G bra is equivalent to a UK 36F? When UK bra sizes get bigger, the cup sizing starts to look different.

A typical UK bra size chart looks something like this:

UK bra sizing can include cup sizes AA, A, B, C, D, DD, E, F, FF, G, GG, H, HH, J, JJ, K…

A typical US bra size chart looks something like this:

US bra sizing can include cup sizes AA, B, C, D, DD/E, DDD/F, DDDD/G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O…

Converting Your Bra Size From US to UK Sizing

Size conversions are challenging when you’re shopping for DD+ bras. While most brands that use UK sizing produce bra sizes up to a K cup, the majority of lingerie brands in US sizing typically start at an A cup and stop at a DDDD/G cup. Some brands, like Wacoal, go up to a DDDDD/H cup. Converting these sizes into the US size equivalent can be a nightmare if done incorrectly.

Wondering why many lingerie brands that use UK sizing go to up to a K cup and most lingerie brands that use US sizing only go up to a G or H cup (the equivalent of a UK F or FF cup)? It’s not because of a lack of demand. Many UK brands start their sizing in a 26 or 28 band and go up to a 42 or 44 band. Since each new size adds an additional cost for the brand (cost of the pattern, cost to produce the bra, etc), most brands stop at a G or H cup and either slowly add additional sizes (always worth it to come back to a brand you like to see if they’ve increased their size range) or stick with the sizes they have if it’s too expensive for them to expand.

Brands that sell bras in UK sizing typically offer FF, GG, HH, and JJ cup size options. Don’t let the letters fool you – though they use a different lettering system, the cup size equivalent is essentially the same (example: UK K cup and US O cup have the same cup volume).

No matter which brand you’re shopping, bra size conversions can be difficult and confusing. To make conversions easier, we’ve created a simple bra size conversion chart for converting US bra sizes into UK bra sizes or UK bra sizes into US bra sizes.
