Valentine’s Day reached an all-time high of $19.7 billion in 2016, which includes the $2 billion roses delivered to the ladies throughout America. While I definitely love being adored on this amorous holiday – especially because I’ve played on the single’s team for a few years- paying $75, plus delivery, for roses doesn’t sound very lovely. I’d prefer a single rose or maybe a few flowers from Trader Joe’s that could cost my lover no more than $10. That’s just my preference.

For those who do enjoy being surprised with a special delivery of a dozen long-stem roses (nothing wrong with a little spotlight), here are a few hacks that can help your significant other score a bouquet of roses for no more than $50.  The closer we approach February 14^th, the more expensive roses become and quality is lost. It’s a crazy world out there, so, if you dare, follow these instructions to save yourself and money!

Tip #1:

Florists smell desperate. Don’t wait last minute to place an order for a bouquet of roses or it’ll hurt your wallet. Roses can live up to 5-7 days, even longer if you add a little sugar to the vase. Deliver the roses to yourself on February 10th, and then hand-deliver them to your valentine on the 14th.

Red roses are so cliché and $20 more than any other colored roses. Order pink for a change. I promise she’ll still be happy as a clam!

If your job is anything like mine, you’re on the road scouting locations for photoshoots, while you’re uploading to social media and scheduling a model casting call. Sometimes we need some space. Eager to find a similar location in Los Angeles, I came across Paper Dolls, who, in luck, also caters to women only. These female social clubs come with a hefty price starting at $99/month, but worth it for the entrepreneurial women who, in return, get an invitation to private networking events, webinars and receive special training and speaker series. Do some research between your conference calls and find your local women-only social club space. Sometimes we, women, need to stick together to inspire and lift one another. Plus, everything is prettier when we work together.

Should I go “fifty shades”, or Rita Hayworth for a little Hollywood glamour?

Don’t want to toot my own horn, but I’ve become quite the professional. I’ve learned 3 things about lingerie shopping for this special-for-two holiday:

• Don’t get anything with hearts. You know what I’m talking about. Panties with a heart located in the center of the crotch area, or bras with a heart covering each nipple. You’re sophisticated and employed – you can afford good taste.
• After dinner, obviously you’re going to go back to his pad. I like to find lingerie that I can easily hide under my Valentine’s Day outfit. This eliminates cami/short sets, and lingerie with loose strings or embellishments. If you’re married, try this too! Why put a stop to your beautiful night? Don’t wait to get home to slip into a body suit that took you hours to find.
• Lingerie can get pretty pricey- depending on what you’re looking for- so invest in pieces that you can wear all year round. You don’t need to be wrapped in bright red nor hot pink lace to get festive. Try dark blue or rich burgundy satin pieces for a change. These colors are full of romance and luxury. Most importantly, you can wear them again next week!

Robes are a sign of maturity. I’m not talking about those fluffy robes we like snuggle with in the mornings. I’m talking about robes that compliment the lingerie, and lift our confidence. Who has the time to work on their Summer body? Seems like every year I’m postponing the flat stomach, but not this year. I discovered new at-home routines that don’t require a treadmill nor Stairmaster!

I like to hit the outdoors for a nice jog on the weekends; however, after coming home from work, the last thing I want to do is swap my heels for sneakers. I’ve got a few at-home routines that don’t require much stress on your body. Before getting down to business, it’s important to know your focus points. Which part of your body needs some toning? I like to focus on my upper body, like arms. After all, I run on weekends to tone my legs.

I was recently introduced to resistance bands. You can tone your entire body with these elastic babies – and at any time: after tucking your children into bed, while speaking on the phone or during your favorite T.V. show!
