10 New Year’s Resolutions All Women Should Make
It’s almost time to say goodbye to 2017 and welcome in the new year. In the lead-up to the event, you may be pondering over some new year’s resolutions. What changes are on your list so far? Are they are healthy and positive as they could be?
Why not make 2018 the year that you truly start practicing body positivity? Here’s how to do just that.
1. Choose outfits that make you feel incredible
Picking out clothes should be a pleasure, not a chore. At times, we all feel like we get stuck in a rut when it comes to our fashion sense, but it has to stop. In 2018, choose outfits that make you feel as incredible as you are. Put your comfort and your body-acceptance first.
2. Oh, and that goes for lingerie too
And it’s not just what you wear on top that matters; your lingerie should be a reflection of your personality. Loving your body means treating it to the finer things in life. That includes gorgeous, luxury lingerie. Don’t you forget it. As the new year looms, take the time to pick out some simply stunning sets that make you feel wonderful.
3. Stop associating self-worth with your body size
Your dress size has absolutely zero to do with your value as a person. Self-worth is about what you mean to those around you, how kind and loving you are, how motivated you are to succeed, and a whole lot more. It is definitely not about what a little number on your clothing labels says. Don’t obsess over it. It doesn’t matter.
4. Exercise for strictly positive reasons
If you’re planning to run on a treadmill until you’re ultra skinny, stop. That is not the reason to get fit and healthy. You do know that, right? Exercise is not a dirty word, but excessively exercising for weight loss reasons is toxic. When you hit the gym, do it for the right reasons. Do it to improve your health, to boost your endorphin levels, and to make yourself feel great.
5. Never talk negatively about your body
If you’re guilty of talking negatively about your body, it’s time to change your ways. When you put your shape and size down, it has a terrible impact on you mentally. You start to believe your own words. So, for your own peace of mind, vow to quit this harmful habit. Start saying all the right things about yourself for once. It may feel weird but it’s the only way to get yourself back on track. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

6. Give the #NoMakeUp trend a chance
The #NoMakeUp trend has been going strong for a couple of years now and it may be worth getting on board. Championed by the likes of Alicia Keys, among other fearless women, this is a fad that’s all about being brave enough to be who you are. While there’s nothing wrong with makeup and beauty products, you may find it refreshing to bare all. Go on. Just to prove that you can.
7. Listen to what your body needs each day
Are you ignoring your body’s needs? If so, you need to resolve to change your ways sooner rather than later. Whether your body needs some time-out or just a little hydration, you have to be ready and waiting to respond. This resolution is all about caring for your needs and never once neglecting yourself. After all, if you don’t look after yourself, who will?
8. Don’t be afraid to compliment yourself
For some reason, people will have you believe that saying nice or complimentary things about yourself is a bad habit. It’s not. Complimenting yourself is one of the kindest things you can do for yourself. Every day, take the chance to notice something about yourself that you adore. It could be as simple as the fact that you like your outfit or your hair being on point. It doesn’t matter what it is. What matters is that you do it.
9. Avoid harmful social media channels
Do you follow channels or even people that make you feel awful about yourself? When you’re scrolling through social media sites, do you start to feel more and more down? There’s an oh-so-easy way to solve that problem, you know? Just click ‘unfollow’ right now. No one will care and you may feel a whole lot more positive.
10. Choose your close friends wisely
Sadly, you can’t unfollow people in real life. However, you can get rid of toxic people that bring you down. If your close friends say things that are negative, hurtful, or harmful, maybe they are not friends at all. Think about it. Perhaps 2018 should be the year that you rid yourself of these people. Keeping them close isn’t doing you any favors.
You don’t need a new year to have a new start, but it’s as good a reason as any to make some positive changes in your life. Now, take the time to think about how you treat yourself and your body. Are you kind to yourself? Do you fully accept your body and life? If not, make some resolutions to truly love yourself and practice self-care every day.
