Leading By Example - Krystal Gordon, Creator of Love Nourish Be.

Welcome to Leading By Example, where we chat with inspiring and innovative female entrepreneurs who are empowering women and positively impacting their local communities. This week, we chatted with Krystal Gordon, creator of Love Nourish Be.

As the creator of Love Nourish Be, Krystal is a role model to women everywhere.

In the first part of her Leading By Example interviewKrystal spoke intimately of her battle with binge eating, dieting, and deprivation. She suffered for years before realizing there was more to wellness than how much she ate and what she weighed. Krystal described in detail the moment that inspired her to change her life and focus on wellness and empowering other women to live a happy life.

Though her bikini selfie going viral was an unexpected surprise, Krystal has used the publicity as a platform to advocate for body positivity and female empowerment. As such, women around the world are watching as she leads by example as one of the newest Global Ambassadors for the Body Image Movement. Her success couldn’t be more well deserved.

We recently sat down with Krystal and she shared with us her authenticity, success, and the future of Love Nourish Be.

On Authenticity

Parfait Team: Everything you write, create, and post is authentic and honest. Your openness nurtures the strong relationship between yourself and your audience. How do you balance authenticity and personal privacy?

Krystal Gordon: When I started this journey I decided that if it related to my health and wellness, I would openly share more often than not.  And if I didn’t share but was asked, I would be honest with my reply.  There have certainly been moments where I thought I just couldn’t bare sharing whatever it is that happened (like the time I went on a 3 day binge after 4 weeks of a great relationship with food) but you soon remember that by being vulnerable and sharing your own story you may very well help someone else on their own journey – even if it is just to let them know that they are not alone, and it is okay.

PT: What advice would you have for a woman who feels she doesn’t fit in or feels like she can’t be her unique and authentic self?

KG: I would be asking why she wants to fit in?  And who is she trying to fit in with?  Perhaps she is giving too much energy to the wrong people, at least in this very moment in her life.  And of course, this ebbs and flows as we change and grow ourselves.  The one thing we all have in common, is that we are different.  We often think this is a bad thing but wow are we lucky to be so gifted as individuals!  I would tell her to look within and really cherish and love who she is and what she has to offer the world.  Once she starts to do that, she may find that some things in her life start to shift – including the people around her!

On Success

PT: What advice would you give to a woman who is just starting her business?

KG: Take the leap of faith you desperately want to take.  Allow yourself to be vulnerable.  Act from a place of love and it will work out exactly as it should.  It is so cliché, but believe in yourself!  Trust your intuition and the journey.  The universe already has your back, she is just waiting for you to truly believe you deserve it and to take action.  I would also really recommend finding a mentor or program to help you get clear around your brand and vision – one that is alignment with your values and desires!

PT: Who are your role models and why?

KG: Women.  Mothers.  Survivors.  A whole bunch of heart-centered entrepreneurs out there across the world.  Those people out there that are doing all they can, sometimes feeling like they are maybe just holding on themselves, yet still find space to give, to share light.  Those people that consistently raise others up.  Those people that genuinely want to see others soar, embrace their full potential and their authentic selves.  Those people are my role models.

PT: What does success mean to you?

KG: Seeing a woman rocking the shit out of a bikini at the beach while playing with her children, rather than missing out due to her insecurities.  Seeing a woman put herself first and choosing a better life because she finally realized she was worth it.  Hearing a woman tell me that she was actually glad to have opened her eyes and hopped out of bed this morning, for the first time in a long time.  And, going to bed at night knowing that I may have sparked a thought or something different inside one of these gorgeous women to help them achieve those things.

PT: What are your keys to success?

KG:

-Doing things from a place of love.

-Living in alignment with my values.

-Showing up for myself every day.

Everything I do that contributes to success is intertwined in those three things!

On Love Nourish Be

PT: Tell us about Love Nourish Be. What inspired you to create an empowering and supportive community for women?

KG: A few things really!  First and foremost, women were asking for it.  They wanted to know how I could possibly go from a lifetime of hate and shame to posting a picture of myself in a bikini on the internet.  They wanted to know how I overcame daily bingeing. They wanted to know how I released almost 25 pounds recently without dieting or deprivation.  And of course, they wanted to know how THEY could do these things.  On the flipside, I saw women everywhere trying their hardest to transform their health and bodies but with little satisfaction.  I saw myself in these women and knew I needed a platform to discuss the elements to wellness that go beyond food and exercise.  Then, in relation to emotional health, I have a deep passion for helping women realise their worth.  It honestly breaks my heart when I chat to a gorgeous woman only to hear about their low self-worth – they truly believe they are not enough, or that they are disgusting, or that they are bad mamas, or they don’t deserve the life they want.  I want to change that!

PT: What are your future plans for Love Nourish Be?

KG: I have several ideas in the pipeline, but for now I just want to focus on providing valuable life changing information and support to the women I work with during Love Nourish Be, as well as individual coaching clients.  In the future I will be looking add on 2 additional extended courses for those that complete Love Nourish Be but want more support and guidance – one around nutrition and another around mindset.  I will also be creating some local workshops and a program for young women.  This message is vital for our girls!  I don’t want to see another generation of women waiting until they are in their 30’s or beyond before realizing how amazing and gorgeous they really are!

PT: What are you most excited about in the coming year?

KG: So much!  I am probably most excited to see women I work with transform themselves through self-care and embracing who they are while participating in Love Nourish Be.  Next year I will become a certified life coach (thanks to Beautiful You Coaching Academy) which is super exciting, and I am almost finished my studies to be a Reiki master so I look forward to sharing that practice in the new year too!
