self love

Do you practice the art of self-love? It may be a tricky question. Many of us are so busy with our daily lives that we hardly give this a second thought. However, neglecting your own needs can have some pretty awful consequences. Here are some of the signs that you are in desperate need of self-love.

1.  You’re constantly stressed out

Do you feel overworked and stressed out? Do you feel as though there just aren’t enough hours in the day to get everything done? If these thoughts and feelings are common, you could be neglecting your need for self-love. You deserve to look after yourself and take a moment in which to relax. Setting aside that time may sound hard right now, but that’s why you need it more than ever.

2.  You blame yourself for things

You are not always to blame. When people don’t love themselves, they believe that they are the reason things go wrong. If you feel as though every little problem that comes your way is your own doing, you’re kidding yourself. It can’t be. It’s just not the case. When you walk around with that kind of guilt on your shoulders, it’s sure to affect how you feel each day. Don’t you forget that.

3.  You’re seriously sleep deprived

When was the last time you had a seriously good night’s sleep? Can you even remember? Many of us tend to forget how important rest is. When you lead a busy life, you could easily find that it’s hard to keep track of everything that’s happening. Couple that with getting a poor night’s sleep and you have a recipe for disaster. Make your night-time routine an absolute priority in your life.

4.  You never put yourself first

While it’s healthy to consider the needs of others, you should also be aware of what it is that you want. If you always put everyone else first, they will start to take that trait for granted. Why would they complain when they’re always getting their own way? At times, you need to put your own needs first. Don’t be afraid – just do it.

5.  Time is passing way too fast

Life is short – we know that already. If it feels as though your time is passing too quickly, it could be that you need a break. Filling every second of every day with chores and things to do is a mistake. You need downtime. You need time to relax, think, and figure out what it is that you need. If you don’t give yourself that, it could be a huge problem.

6.  You feel burned out

Whether it’s being overworked or having too much on your plate, burnout is a common problem. You could find that simple daily tasks have suddenly become much harder than they were before now. You may feel as though you’re always fighting an uphill battle. When we fail to take care of ourselves and look after our own needs, it shows!

7.  You’re suffering from anxiety

Anxiety affects a whole wealth of people. While there’s a range of reasons that people are affected by this problem, a lack of self-love certainly plays into it. When you don’t take note of your own feelings and needs, it can manifest itself in ways that you may not have imagined. Understanding how you feel is the first step here. When you start to listen to yourself and act with love, you will notice a huge difference in how you feel.

8.  You don’t know your own mind

Do you know what you want from life? Do you understand how you feel and what makes you tick? If the answer is no, some things need to change sooner rather than later. When you ignore your mind for long enough, you start to become less than who you are. Don’t be afraid to listen to your gut and be confident in how you feel. If you feel like you’re constantly muddled up, take some time to really care for yourself.

9.  You hold serious grudges

Holding a grudge is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die. At least, that’s what they say. Resenting the people that have wronged you is only going to hurt you in the long-run. It means that you are filled with pain, anger, and thoughts of revenge. Needless to say, none of the above will do you any good. In fact, these feelings and thoughts are likely to bring you down and make you feel sad. Let things go.

10.  You have no long-term goals

What are your long-term goals? Where do you see yourself in five years time? When you love yourself, you know that you need to constantly progress. It’s important that you do all you can to understand where you want to be. Visualize a future that makes you happy and take meaningful steps to reach it. It doesn’t have to be hard. Write down some goals today.

Self-love should be a top priority in your life. If it’s not right now, it’s time to make some changes. When you start accepting who you are and loving yourself for that, you will find that things naturally change for the better. Love yourself and the rest will follow.
