How To Keep A Strapless Bra Up
Can you depend on your strapless bra? Strapless bras are one of the most challenging bra styles to shop for. We’ve talked with many, many women who have struggled with finding the right strapless bra until they tried Parfait.
Looking for a strapless bra that won’t let you down? Check out our top tips and picks for maximum support below:
1. Get a bra fitting before you buy a new strapless bra
Bra fittings are seriously life-changing. If your bra size has recently changed or if haven’t had a bra fitting in six months or more, it’s time to visit your local lingerie store. In most cases, a bra fitting can sort out common bra fit issues and ensure that you’re wearing the right size in each brand. Since bras can fit differently from brand to brand, another benefit of visiting a local lingerie store is having a bra fitter hand pick bras for you to try on – so you won’t have to waste precious time going through all of the bras yourself.
2. Try a longline bustier
Every outfit should start with the right foundations (your lingerie of course!) A longline bustier is the perfect starting point. These undergarments are known for their wide, supportive bands (often with plastic boning to keep the bra from rolling up or digging into skin). If you’re in the mood for a longline bustier, we recommend our Elissa Low Back Bustier. With its demi cups and backless fit, this versatile style goes perfectly under almost any strapless special occasion or wedding dress. Plus, it’s curved seams and boning nip in the waist and smooth out the tummy and hips.

3. Don’t worry about the size on the tag
With strapless bras, you’ll need a snug, but not uncomfortable fit if you want the bra to stay in place. We recommend wearing your new bra on the loosest hook with the band running parallel to the floor. If the band is riding up in the back or falling down, the band is too big. If the cup fits just right but the fit of the band still feels off, opt for a band size smaller and a cup size bigger (your bra sister size) and see if you feel more supported. If you don’t have any silicone allergies or skin sensitivity, you could also look for bras with silicone along the inner band wings and cups to help keep it in place.
4. Get the fit right
Hook the bra either at the back or at the front and twist it around to the back. Pull the band up so the bra band is running parallel to the floor. Then, while holding the left cup with your left hand, use your right hand to scoop your breast tissue into the cup and to the center of the bra. Next, hold the right cup with your right hand and use your left hand to scoop your breast tissue into the cup and to the center of the bra. Check to make sure all your breast tissue is inside of the cup’s underwire. Once everything is secure, try a t-shirt or strapless top over the bra to see how it looks under clothing. A well-fitting strapless bra should virtually disappear under clothing.
Above all, fit is paramount when it comes to strapless bras. If you’ve been struggling with finding a strapless bra that fits well and stays in place, head over to your local lingerie store. They’ll help you find exactly what you need.
