Everything You Need To Know About The Scoop and Swoop
Have you heard about the ‘scoop and swoop’? If you’re a lingerie addict or fit expert, you definitely have. The ‘scoop and swoop’ is a popular term used by bra fitters and lingerie aficionados to describe the method of ‘scooping’ your breast tissue into the bra cups. While it might seem like an unnecessary step, it’s actually crucial to a perfect fit. So, why do we recommend becoming familiar with this quick maneuver? Read on for everything you need to know about the scoop and swoop.
Why do the scoop and swoop?
The scoop and swoop is essential every time you put on a bra. Ever hook a bra and think to yourself that the cups look too big? Try scooping your tissue into the bra to fill the cups next time. Wearing a push-up or bombshell bra? Don’t forget to scoop your tissue so it lies on top of the padding, which will enhance your cleavage and help you get a perfect fit.
Can the scoop and swoop change the fit of a bra?
Yes! Scooping all of your breast tissue into the cups ensures that the underwire is encapsulating your breast tissue and not laying on top of it. If your bra is too small, the underwire will lay on top of your breast tissue and cause pain and discomfort.

How to do the scoop and swoop
First, put on your bra. Slide your arms through the straps and join the hook and eye closure. Next, check that the band is on the loosest (or middle) hook and parallel to the floor. Then, with your left hand, hold the left side of the bra where the cup and band meet, and with your right hand, reach into the cup and pull your breast tissue up and toward the center of the cup. Repeat on the opposite side, holding the right side of the bra where the cup and band meet and lifting your breast tissue up into the cup with your left hand.
Once your breast tissue is pulled into the cups, check that there isn’t any space in the bottom or top of the cups. Your breast tissue should fill the cups completely. If you notice any spillage over the tops or sides of the cups, you may need to size up in the cup and possibly also in the band.
Alternatively, if you raise your hands in the air and notice a gap between the bottom of the band and your chest, you may need to size down in the band. While you’re adjusting the fit, check the fit of the straps – you should be able to fit two fingers comfortably between your skin and the straps. If you can fit more than two fingers, your straps are too loose. If you can only fit one finger between your skin and the strap, your straps are too tight.
