wrong bra size

Wearing the right bra size makes a huge difference in your day. It boosts your confidence because it works for you, not against you. And it makes you feel comfortable in your bra. Many women are wearing the wrong bra size, but don’t realize it.

Do you think you may be wearing the wrong bra size? Ask yourself these questions for a quick check to see if you might need a different bra size:

1.  Does your bra hurt you?

The right sized bra won’t be uncomfortable. If wearing your bra is causing you discomfort at all, you could be wearing the wrong size.

2.  Does your band ride up?

The bra band will ride up on your back if the band is too big. It rides up because it’s not tight enough around your body to help support your breasts. Try decreasing the band size if the band is riding up.

3.  Is there a gap in between your boob and cup?

I thought having a gap between your boob and the cup of the bra was normal. I was so wrong! This is one of the signs that your bra is too big. The cups should fit your breasts snugly, yet comfortably. If you’re experiencing this gap, you need a smaller cup size.

4.  Does the center of your bra rest on your chest?

The center panel that connects the two cups is known as the gore. The gore should rest directly on your chest. This helps keep the bra in place and provide support. If the gore is not touching your chest, and sort of hovering over it, your bra is too small.

5.  Do your bra straps fall easily?

Loose bra straps can be the result of the adjustment slider sliding out of place. So, first try re-adjusting your bra straps if they are loose. If the straps continue to fall down, it’s because you’re wearing a bra that’s too big.

6.  Do your boobs spill out of your cups?

You may see a little side boob in most bras. (Unless you’re wearing a full coverage bra, like a full cup bra.) But in general, your boobs shouldn’t be hanging out the sides of your bra. If your boobs are spilling out over the tops, sides or bottom of your bra, you’re wearing the wrong bra size. You probably need to go up in cup size.

7.  Are your cups wrinkly?

Your boobs will never fill out a bra that’s too big. This can result in the cups looking wrinkly, even while wearing the bra. Your boobs will fill out the cups perfectly when wearing the right bra size. Try going down a size if you’re experiencing loose or wrinkly fabric in your bra cups.

8.  Do your bra straps leave marks on your shoulders?

Bra straps shouldn’t leave marks on your shoulders. If this occurs, it’s because there’s too much pressure on the straps. Dented shoulders can be related to the bra band and are a sign you’re wearing the wrong bra size. When the bra band rides up, it requires the straps to carry more weight of your breasts. But, the straps aren’t meant to carry weight at all. The straps are merely there to hold the bra in place.

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, it’s very likely that you’re wearing the wrong bra size. I’d never suggest going to a lingerie store and trying to find the right fit yourself though. You’ll want to get a bra fitting at a local lingerie store to ensure you get the most accurate fit.
