where to get fitted for a bra

Tell us the truth: How do your bras fit? Are they too big or too small? Do you experience any discomfort or pain while wearing them? Do you feel supported all day long?

We all know how challenging it is to shop for bras – especially when you aren’t sure which size or style works best for you. So, if you’re unsure of your size or tired of shopping for bras on your own, it might be time to get a bra fitting.

Bra fittings are one of the most underrated services provided by local lingerie stores. During a bra fitting, a trained bra fitter will take your measurements, fit you for a bra, and suggest styles that suit your lifestyle and body type. After all, the goal of a bra fitting is to help you find at least one bra that makes you feel comfortable and supported.

Bra fitters take the guesswork out of bra shopping by doing the fitting and shopping for you – and the whole fitting typically takes less than 45 minutes from start to finish. We’d consider this time well spent. If you’re still on the fence, think of it this way: How many times have you spent an hour online shopping for bras only to find that you weren’t sure what you needed in the first place? A bra fitter will do all of the hard work for you – and save you time and money in the process.

Still unsure if you need a bra fitting? Here are five signs it’s time for a bra fitting.

1.  You’ve lost or gained weight since you last bought bras.

If you’ve lost or gained weight since your last shopping trip, it might be time for new bras. It’s not uncommon for your bra size to change several times throughout your life. Weight gain and weight loss can affect the size of your breasts and cause them to increase or decrease in size. If you notice that you’re buying a different clothing size, chances are good your bra size has changed too.

2.  None (or only one) of your bras fit right.

Do you have one good bra that you wear every day? Or maybe you don’t feel supported in any of your bras. If your bras just aren’t fitting right, it’s time for a bra fitting. Your bra size could have changed since you last bought bras. Alternatively, your bras could be so worn that they need to be replaced. Both are important reasons to visit a local lingerie store and get it all sorted out.

3.  You’re pregnant or nursing.

If you’re pregnant (congrats!) or nursing, it might be time for some new bras. Your bra size can change anywhere from 1-3+ cup sizes during pregnancy, so it’s crucial to make sure you’re wearing the right bra size throughout your pregnancy. Nursing, on the other hand, can also affect your breast size. We suggest getting a bra fitting 8 months into your pregnancy and 2-3 weeks after childbirth.

4.  You’ve never had a bra fitting or you can’t remember when your last bra fitting was.

Are you used to shopping for bras on your own? Maybe you’ve reached a point where you’re not sure what your bra size is or where to find what you need. In addition to offering bra fitting, local lingerie boutiques have trained lingerie experts available to answer your lingerie questions – from bra fitting to bra care and everywhere in between.

5.  You haven’t bought new bras in a year or longer.

Has it been a year since you last bought new bras? Chances are your current bras are ready to be replaced. If you haven’t shopped for new lingerie in a while, it’s time to refresh your lingerie drawer. Even just one new bra can elevate your favorite outfits!
