where to get fitted for a bra

It’s normal to be a little hesitant about getting a bra fitting. Whether you’ve had three bra fittings or none – the situation can make some women uncomfortable. It could be because there’s a stranger in your personal space. Or that you don’t know what to expect at a bra fitting. Or, maybe you just feel a little embarrassed. All are perfectly normal ways to feel about getting a bra fitting. However, I guarantee you’ll feel at ease (and happy you’re there) once your fitting begins!

Need a little boost to get a fitting? Here are five reasons why you shouldn’t be shy about bra fittings:

1.  It’s a judge-free zone.

Bra fittings are done in completely judge-free zone. It’s just you and the lingerie associate behind a closed curtain. And, the associate is not judging you. In fact, she wants you to feel secure and comfortable. That’s why she’ll carefully take your measurements and provide you a variety of bra styles to try. Not feeling great about your body? That’s okay! Have some lingerie questions you want to ask? Ask away! The lingerie associate is on your team – she’s not there to judge you.

2.  Bra fitters are professionals.

A store’s lingerie associates are professionals. This means each bra fitter is a pro at what she does. She knows the ins and outs of the lingerie industry. She knows which tweaks to make in style or size to fit the right fit. She knows how to tell if a bra truly fits you. The bra fitter working with you is there to help. Trust in her and let her work her magic.

3.  Bra fitters have seen it all.

We all have things that we’d rather people not see – back acne, extra weight, stretch marks, scars, etc. Bra fitters have fitted numerous women for bras, and they’ve seen it all. Again, the associate isn’t there to judge you or hone in on your insecurities. She’s there to boost your confidence by finding you a bra you’ll love to wear.

4.  It’s the best way to find a bra that fits.

A bra fitting is the best first step in finding a bra that really fits. You know, a bra that doesn’t hurt, require adjustments or make you wonder why you even wear it. Yeah, that bra exists! But, you need a bra fitting to determine your bra size, so you can find it. Don’t skip the fitting and opt for the trial and error method of trying on bras. That route can be tedious and frustrating. You’ll likely end up wasting money on a bra that’s not your size.

5.  It’s not as awkward as you may think.

I know a bra fitting may sound awkward. Someone is taking measurements of your bust, and they’re a little too close for your liking. However, the bra fitting isn’t as daunting as it may seem.

What Is A Bra Fitting Like?

The bra fitter may or may not ask you to remove your shirt for the fitting. (The reason she’ll ask you to remove it is so extra material doesn’t skew your measurements.) Then, the measurements are done pretty quickly. (Again, she’s a professional, so she knows how to get in there and get it done.) After that, she’ll bring you bras and give you privacy to try them on. So, be sure to speak up if you have a question about the fit or want to her take a look. She’ll likely only come back into your fitting room if you request it.

Don’t let nerves stop you from getting a bra fitting. Every woman needs bra fittings to ensure she buys the right size and fit. Walk in confidently, and remember that the process will make you feel fabulous and comfortable in your bra.
