How To Wash and Care For Bras
You took the time to get a bra fitting and go bra shopping. Now you have a few new bras to wear each week. Whether you decide to wear them first and then wash them, or wash them before wear you them, how you care for your bras plays an important part in how long they’ll last.
You’ve probably heard that the better care you take of your bras, the longer they’ll last. This is true. Washing them in hot water and throwing them in the dryer are both quick ways to ruin your bras (and you don’t want that!)

How to wash bras
First, separate your bras from your other lingerie and clothes. Then, sort them into piles with like colors. Depending on how often you do your laundry, you should have a pile of light colors and a pile of dark colors.
Next, hook all of your bras and put them in mesh lingerie bags. This keeps them from snagging or catching on other bras in the wash. Sort your panties, babydolls, and sports bras into other mesh lingerie bags (they can all be washed together). Then, wash them on a short delicates cycle with cool water.
How to dry bras
First things first, never ever put your bras in the dryer. The dryer is very hard on lingerie. The heat from the dryer can break down elastic, ruin the cups, and cause the fabric to stretch and be bent out of shape.
We recommend laying your lingerie flat to dry on a drying rack or table with the cups facing up. You could also hang your lingerie to dry with the center front of the bra draped over the hanger. Hanging your bra by the straps can cause the straps to stretch out. The center front of a bra is typically stabilized and made of minimal fabric, so hanging it by the center front is a better choice.
How to store bras
If you’re storing your bras in a drawer, sort them by style. All molded bras should be lined up in a row with the cups facing forward. Unlined wire bras, bralettes, and wireless bras can be folded in half and stored on top of the next or laid flat and stored on top of each other.
Bras can also be hung up and stored in a closet on hangers. You can hang them by the straps or by the center front of the bra but laying them in a drawer is the best option.
