Find Your Perfect Fit

Beautiful, supportive bras do exist.

We believe that no one should ever have to settle for an ill-fitting bra. No matter what bra size you wear, you deserve bras that fit well and feel amazing.

Ready to find your perfect fit? You’ve come to the right place.

Intro To Bra Fitting

We hear you – bra sizing is confusing. If you’ve ever wondered how the size on your bra’s tag is calculated, we’re here to help you out.

Your Bra Size

Your bra size is made up of two components – the band size (32, 34, 36, 38…) and the cup size (A, B, C, D…)

Your band size is typically determined by the measurement of your rib cage (measured directly under your bust).

Your cup size is typically the difference between your overbust measurement (measured at the fullest part of the bust with the tape measure parallel to the floor) and your underbust measurement.

Together, these measurements make up your bra size.

Unfortunately, bra fitting isn’t as simple as it might seem.

Other Factors

Your breast shape and breast root also play a role in determining which bra size you need and which bra styles will work best for you.

Lingerie brands can fit differently from brand to brand and style to style, so we recommend using your bra size as more of a guide than a set rule.

These are a few reasons why we recommend learning what a proper fitting bra looks like since the size on the tag won’t accurately indicate if a bra will be a good fit or not.

When shopping for bras, you’ll want to pay close attention to the fit of the band, cups, center gore, and straps.

These four components are responsible for the lift, support, comfort, and fit of the bra.

The Band

Did you know that the bra band is responsible for providing 80-85% of a bra’s support?

For the most supportive fit, you should be able to fit two fingers between your skin and the bra band.

Also, if you raise your hands in the air, the bra band should stay in place. A moving band is a telltale sign of a band that’s too big.

We recommend wearing new bras on the loosest bra hook.

As you wear the bra, you’ll find yourself tightening the band to the middle and then tightest (or innermost) hook.

The Cups

Your bra cups work to shape, lift, center, and separate your breast tissue. Three-part cups and four-part cup bras are among the best styles for D+ cup sizes.

Bras come in many different shapes and styles.

Padded bras, t-shirt bras, contour bras, and push-up bras work for all cup sizes – from A to K. They typically feature molded cups and provide more cup coverage than an unlined wire bra or bralette. These styles shape the bust into a more symmetrical, rounded shape.

Unlined wire bras and bralettes let your natural breast shape shine though. Their wireless, unpadded cups offer all-day comfort and light lift while still maintaining a flattering shape. These wire-free bras are perfect to wear on the weekend, to sleep, or when you’re lounging around at home.

Depending on your breast shape, some bra styles may work better for you than others.

If you have close set breasts or augmented breasts, for example, you may have a difficult time finding a plunge bra that lays flat against your sternum.

Bra fitting is a lot of trial and error.

Don’t be afraid to try on different styles to see what works best for you!

The Center Gore

The center gore, also known as the center panel, separates breast tissue and provides stability. This part of the bra should lay flat against your sternum for most bra styles.

The Straps

Your bra straps provide only a small amount of lift for your bust. Their main purpose is to keep your cups lifted and in place.

Remember: Your bra band should stay in place when you slide your straps off your shoulders. You shouldn’t be relying on your straps for lift or support.

How To Get The Perfect Fit

Now that you know what to look for in a perfect fitting bra, let’s put it all together. For this part, you’ll want to stand in front of a mirror so you can easily check the fit of the bra.

The Band

Your bra band should fit snug, but not uncomfortable. It should be parallel to the floor.

For the best fit, you should be able to fit two fingers between your skin and the band. This keeps the straps on your shoulders without sacrificing the fit.

The Cups

Your breast tissue should fill the cups completely after all of your breast tissue has been scooped into the cups.

The underwire should not be resting on your breast tissue and your breast tissue should not be spilling over the top, sides, or bottom of the bra.

The Center Gore

The center gore should tact against your sternum without feeling uncomfortable. With some bra styles, the center gore may not tact completely.

The Straps

You should be able to fit two fingers between your skin and the bra strap.

If the straps are too loose, they’ll fall off your shoulders. If the straps are too tight, they’ll cause your cups and band to ride up.
